We hired Simply Exquisite team to do our main floor reno which included taking down a load bearing wall, gutting down the whole kitchen and putting up new kitchen, new flooring, building a fireplace, installing under mount range hood (down draft ) putting up a coffered ceiling, feature walls, putting up a new staircase etc...etc...and more. The job was quoted for 6 to 8 weeks but it took a couple weeks extra because we had to finalize the permit from the city other than that they were extremely accommodating to our needs and did the job very precisely and professionally, i'd say they really exceeded our expectations, went way beyond what we had on mind and they were very pleasant to deal with, always picked up our calls and were always there for us, I will recommend Richie, Gagan and their team to anyone who needs to do any kind of renovation like their name they were simply exquisite!!!!

Very bad experience with Gagan Hajatri & Stijl Tree Designs, very young inexperienced staff, not professional, and very dishonest. (This was such a frustrating situation). We gave our project to Stijl tree design, with Gagan working on our project. The total contract cost was about $11,000. a few months after the project started Gagan informed us that the previous agreed amount of $11,000 was not enough to finish the project, he claimed he needed $20,000 extra to finish the job. (almost a 300% increase in the original contract price). He informed us that he had also ran into some issues with the city/region and was unaware how to continue or complete the project. Gagan made a statement and said we should just sell the property instead on developing it and be done with it. (very inexperienced and not professional at all). We tried to contact them for our deposit back but Gagan and his colleagues refused and proceeded to ignore our calls. They did not complete the project, and they did not return our deposit. Please Advise: Find a contractor with previous work experience, and check the companies job references, to ensure they know how to complete the job before you give them the project. problems during projects will always arise, but knowing how to resolve those problems is a skill that must be learned. (very inexperience)

Working with Gagan of StijlTree was an absolute disaster.In September, 2021 we engaged StijlTree to design an addition to our house. We wanted something very simple and had a specific budget in mind. In engaging StijlTree we were very clear that if the cost estimates were far outside this range we would not move forward with the project. We were assured that it was possible for the cost we had envisioned and were given a 16-18 week time estimate to have the drawings completed. When draft drawings were made available, we shared them with a reputable contractor who had done work for us previously and the cost estimate came back at 6 times higher than our budget. This difference was a huge surprise, given the budget we had asked for to start. We were assured by Gagan that it could be done for far cheaper than that and that he had talked to a contractor who would do it for twice our budget. Still far above the range we asked for but we agreed to continue in the process.By October 2022 we hit week 60 (!) of the 16-18 week project and the final drawings now available. With Gagan paid for his efforts, we asked him to notify his contractor that we’d like to move forward with the work (for twice our budget) but were informed that the previous estimate was no longer possible and it would cost - you guessed it – 6 times the budget.We were duped into starting the project based on his egregiously wrong estimates. The pandemic was blamed, except in September 2021 we were well into it already and prices had already moved. Gagan said the initial quotes were good at the time and that he can’t control any change in prices from contractors except the contractors we have spoken with said the initial budget was never close to realistic, pandemic or not.In addition to the costs exceeding 600% of his estimate and the timeline exceeding 300% of his estimate, communication was absolutely abysmal. I have more than 50 emails in my sent folder asking for updates, most of which went unanswered. Gagan did not listen to us regarding what we wanted - a simple shipping container/box. Nothing fancy at all. His drawings had skylights, slanted walls, spiral staircases, and ate into our parking. We did not ask for any of that.We were once very excited about this project but it was ultimately a complete failure that we never would have started if StijlTree was knowledgeable about the costs of projects. The money they got from us went completely down the drain. Working with StijlTree was an excruciating process which in no way gave us anything we wanted or anything usable; I would not recommend using them in any capacity.*****************Update based on owner's reply:For clarity, the 'refund' given to us was not for the project in question; it was the deposit for another proposed initiative, given before we knew the type of poor experience we would get.We did ask for a refund for the project referred to above since there was nothing usable created for us but Gagan did not see anything wrong with the project's outputs.Ironically, the owner's same day reply to my posted review might be the fastest response received during this entire engagement.

This company designed a laneway suite with a roof that slopes towards the property line, causing rainwater to flow down the metal roof and walls onto the ground, over entry doors, garage doors, and onto neighbouring properties and structures. The design appears to be intentionally flawed, causing problems and additional expenses for the owner and builder to fix the issue. Despite my efforts, I have had ongoing difficulty in getting the builder and architect to address my concerns. It seems that they are only interested in making money and moving on to the next project, without regard for the damage they cause. How was this project approved by the city when it clearly violates rules and regulations? The attached pictures show the damage to my garage caused by their poor design. I also wanted to bring to your attention my review of Flattery Design, the builders of this project, who claim that they were just following instructions from StijlTree.

Please read this detailed review before giving development or construction projects to StijlTree Designs or Gagan Hajatri. Hiring Gagan & stijltree designs to complete our site plan project started off as a good idea but ultimately turned out to be a mistake. Before the project started We had agreed to be given updates on a regular basis on the project and completed work, as well as a time span of 2 months to finish required drawings & work for this project. 2+ months into the project we contact Gagan for updates on what has been completed on the project. He reply's and states that everything is completed and there is nothing to worry about. We ask him if he could supply or show us what was completed or just make a list and tell us what has been completed. He reply's saying we cannot give any updates on what has been completed unless he receives all the money for the contract first in full. We tell him this is an absurd request to ask for $10000+ before telling us if you have or have not completed anything there was no reply for a few days. (turns out he did not complete everything) A few days later his partner called us and informed us that the contract is terminated, claiming we swore at him and claimed we said he doesn't know how to do his job. Also claimed we emailed and called him too much for his liking, apparently he doesn't like to be contacted about his jobs. He continued to state that he can give us a refund of our deposit, and will not longer continue working on the project. A few weeks later we call him to try to work things out but continues saying he does not want to continue working on the project anymore and says he will give our money back. and then the next day he states that he will no longer be giving a refund of our deposit because we took too long. unfortunately waste of 3+ months of our time and got nowhere with the project.. Very poor communication, very bad business ethics, and unprofessionalism. All in all, save your money go somewhere else, hire someone with experience, and knowledge on this field.

Tremendous help with my laneway project. Very attentive and creative in their design process, and Gagan was always there to help guide me along the way! Would definitely recommend to others around me looking for a good designer!
