The Merry Dairy

The Merry Dairy has the best ice cream in Ottawa. Have tried others in the city and The Merry Dairy has better flavours and taste, bigger selection, fairer prices, and the best atmosphere, service and experience!

Just discovering various food businesses in Ottawa since my move last October. Went googling best ice cream parlours. First cone was caramel, and heavenly. 2nd was lemon-cello, berry.....not exciting.Big line ups on weekends and evenings. You will know why when you get a taste.

Around Christmas time they had this one flavour.. moose something.. dropping? anyways, 7 months later i still think about that ice cream sometimes. take 5 star and my money.I have been there number of times with my daughter and always a great service.

I think this place is over rated. It’s very crowded . It took us almost an hour to get our ice creams. Besides the taste is ok but definitely not the best one even in Ottawa. I have tried 4 different flavors here and only one (passion fruit ) was good. The others were too sweet.. I won’t go back

I can't eat ice cream a lot of places. I can eat here. The ice cream is amazing. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is just the best. If you have a nut allergy this is your spot

Merry Dairy is a staple ice cream shop here in Ottawa, and for good reason. The location is colourful, quaint & cute, tucked away into a neighbourhood off of Wellington street, and the staff are lovely people. There’s usually a lineup going around the building — especially in the warm months, where it can wrap totally around to the other side! With that kind of popularity, the quality speaks for itself. Unfortunately, I can’t say I unequivocally recommend the Merry Dairy. I find that their flavours tend to be very hit or miss; they’re either spot on delicious or they’re edging on a bit mediocre. For example, I got a Salted Caramel scoop and a Cotton Candy scoop. The Salted Caramel was fantastic, super creamy with an excellent depth of flavour! But the Cotton Candy wasn’t creamy, had a strange mouthfeel (possibly because it’s a vegan flavour?) and hardly had any taste to it whatsoever besides a vaguely sugary one. It was incredibly disappointing. I have to say the cinnamon sugar cone was great and so were the hot fudge, caramel & oreo crumb toppings I opted for, so the end result was still a yummy treat. I think I will likely go back to the Merry Dairy again, but I’m going to have to exercise caution and ask more seasoned friends for their recommendations first next time.

Lovely people and great ice cream! Love the vegan options for us lactose intolerant folks. :) I enjoyed the sunbutter ice cream!Ordered an ice cream cake for my partner and it was delivered on time and they were nothing but professional and polite. Really really recommend this place.

The chocolate ice cream is great!I also tried the ube, strawberry, and lemon blueberry which were not for me (fresh ingredients but the flavours were too strong)...but I am looking forward to giving their store a try again - I must try the cookies n cream and frozen custard that I keep hearing good things about.I'd recommend their delivery option too because they communicate well in advance of arriving during that 3-7pm window. I got a text 24 min out before delivery and it was accurate!

Our family has long enjoyed the Merry Dairy. Recently they have become all the more loved as one of our grandmas can't have dairy or gluten and there are always delicious, reliable options for her at Merry Dairy. We were also able to order an ice cream cake for an upcoming bday that is dairy free to accommodate one of the guests but will certainly be enjoyed by all (that vegan mint chip is heavenly). I am also so impressed by the fun customization of the loot bag gift cards we ordered - they are awesome! This small business checks all the boxes and then adds a few more boxes to keep on checking...truly above and beyond! Thanks Merry Dairy!
