Yiannis Taverna Greek Restaurant
Went with a family member for a Saturday night meal, we split the Athena Platter and everything was soooo delicious. There was also in-house entertainment in the form of a belly dancer (I think) and she motivated other patrons to get up and dance also. We did not participate because we were too into the food!

Just attended a birthday party here last weekend. The food was totally amazing. I never realized how dry my chicken usually is until I ate here- so so good! This was our first time and we will definitely be repeat customers.

Amazing food and atmosphere! The mojito was on special, and I’m so glad I tried it — they even add multiple different types of ice, which really added something special. The dips and the veggie moussaka tasted incredible. This was probably the best Greek food I’ve had in the city!

This place is our new favourite in Edmonton! The chicken was extremely juicy with a crispy grilled edge, the eggplant dip is extremely flavourful, and the lamb was delicious! The service was incredible - our server was Amy and she was extremely attentive and helpful - she was very attentive about my dairy allergy! We will certainly be back and with our family who visits, since we just moved! The white wine was great as well. Can’t say enough good things!

Had the best time! The service was excellent the food was delicious. Yiannis did not disappoint. We had Greek salad, New York steak and Prawns on roasted vegetables and shared all the dishes and were able to bring some home. The dishes were all flavourful and the steak was charred to perfection. We will definitely be back again!!!

We are here because of the company Christmas party.First time here but we had a very good experience.The appetizers are very good, never eaten them before but after I tried them, I m in love with it.And the main course I ordered beef stew.Everything comes together as a perfect match.Also they do have the belly dance, the dancer will go all around the restaurant and she will teach you how to dance too.Amazing experienceHighly recommended

Been here years ago and visited on June 14th for a friend's Birthday. It's one of her favorite places and she lives in Spruce Grove, so that says something.I arrived at 6pm and there was just two tables that were being used. Still love the decor and lighting, it's just right for the type of restaurant.Once the girls arrived we all ordered Sangria. I also picked their Chicken Soup while the girls ordered Crispy Squid and a Dip Platter. Once our drinks arrived they then ordered the Beef Baby Back Ribs and the Chicken Souvlakia Meal. Sadly they were out of Beef Ribs so she got the Beef Souvlakia Meal too.Our drinks were delicious, my soup hit the spot, the Squid was perfectly cooked and the dips were awesome.Wasn't long until their meals came out and they all looked soo good. I had to play sports right after, which is why I did not eat a big meal. But I need to get my butt back here to have a proper meal as everything still looks and smell the same, absolutely delicious!

Yiannis is practically an institution on Whyte Ave, as it’s been around for decades. Great food, good atmosphere. You’re going to eat well if you come here. My last visit our server was great too; attentive, but not too attentive. Would recommend as a place to eat, especially for the lamb!

We was there yesterday and I have heard a lot of good things. When we entry it was a very sweet girl but she didn’t speak very well English and that was totally fine we didn’t have a problem waiting to be seated. After a lady with glasses show up with a compassion attitude that the girl was Ukrainian and she is sorry. Like is been a while that I have to feel so uncomfortable in a restaurant, why you should do that comment to your costumer? Keep the comments for yourself.I am a general manager in 2 restaurants in Calgary but if your workers are not happy your costumers will never be! I am reading the responses in the reviews and I see everywhere that your costumers are haters! I’m sorry Mr Yannis your costumers are not haters and as a 100% Greek, yes some plates remind me Greece but the food was average!This Arabic pita for example is not the pita that we eat everywhere in Greece! My negroni was good but I didn’t like that had a straw no one is drinking negroni with a straw!
