Did an amazing walking tour with Layla. She was incredibly passionate about Jewish history and how it’s influenced food in Montreal. We ended up checking out some spots we definitely would have gone ( St Viateur, Schwartz’s ) but also a bunch we never would have thought to go.Learned a ton, ate great food. An real treat and amazing way to see Mile End.

I would highly recommend this tour! Our guide (Avery) was very friendly and knowledgable. We learned a lot about Montreal's history, and tasted many delicious foods. I was surprised by how MUCH food we were given. I was expecting a small sample at each stop, but at each place we had a full bagel/sandwich/baked good. There were baggies available to take what we couldn't eat. This worked out very well because we were driving home from Montreal after the tour, and we had enough snacks leftover for the car ride that we didn't need to stop for dinner! It was a really great way to try Montreal specialties, without having to wait in long lines at each stop. Also a great way to see the Mile End area and learn about the neighbourhood's past.

Rachel was the most amazing tour guide - her lively, animated commentary made the 3.5 hours whizz by. We loved all of the food and particularly learning more about the families behind the stores and her personal anecdotes. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in learning more about Jewish culture and food in Montreal. Thank you Rachel!

I brought a group of Jewish high school students from Toronto on a tour, and we were all so engaged! The leader was knowledgeable, passionate, and shared fascinating insights about the neighbourhood and its characters. We loved it - thank you!

We were participants in a walking tour of Jewish Montreal led by Hannah on August 24. Hannah was great! She was personable, prepared and flexible in leading our group to the many stops on the tour. We all learned so much about the history of this particular Jewish community during its heyday. As the only Montreal-born person on the tour, along with all Americans, I can attest to the accuracy of the presentation. It was a moving experience to walk the neighbourhood of my mother and her large Jewish family and to try to imagine their life experiences. It's a must-do activity for visitors to and natives of Montreal.

The information shared on this tour was interesting but a few things could be improved upon to allow for a more positive tour experience.* We were not allowed to go into the various shops that we stopped in front of. The reason that was repeatedly stated by our guide is that we are a big group and couldn't go in. Maybe groups should be limited in booking size.* Since we all paid almost $100 each for the tour there should be enough items to taste from each business. For instance my friends and I numbered 4 and we paid for 4 people yet we had to share 2 items while other people in our group received one each. Each business should provide the exact amount for the number of paying tour participants.* Items like hand wipes and ziploc bags should be provided for each participant. The actual route was interesting and provided great insight into the history of the neighbourhood. Our guide was friendly and enthusiastic about the Jewish history in the neighbourhood.
