The first couple of times I went to this shop, everything was fine. However, since they renovated, our experience there has not been good and sadly, we will not continue to shop there. Firstly, the shopkeeper watches the multiple frame surveillance and will call you out if she thinks you’re taking photos, which is very bizarre behaviour because it’s not uncommon to look up recipe ingredients or to search for something on your phone (please see reviews for numerous other similar experiences). This is such odd behaviour because it’s a deterrent to customers, one would think. The shopkeeper is also quick to threaten to post photos of the client footage online in responses to negative feedback. I also don’t understand the concern around phone use. What is the fear based on? As for the surveillance, I realize there is a problem with increased shoplifting in general, but we do not look like shoplifters. To top it all off, they seriously overcharge on produce. As an example, a small mango (about half the size of an average mango) rang in at over $4. Three tiny hot peppers - $1/piece. There are other local import shops that have much more reasonable prices, and for that reason we will not return to Spice and will share our experience with others.**Also, please note the positive 5 star ratings have been purchased. A couple of them accidentally posted the complete bullet list of comments that are paid for, and you can also find the individual bullet statements in multiple single sentence reviews. The true local reviews would provide a much lower star rating.

Owner is confrontational, combative and paranoid. If you’re looking for a store where everything is comically overpriced, where the shopkeeper follows you around the store and watches your every move like a hawk on a wall of security camera footage, where the owner argues with bad reviews online, where the owner calls bad reviews bots, and where the owners buys fake 5 star reviews on google then Spice is the place for you. If you’re looking for the opposite of that then just go to Wal-Mart.

I have been learning to make Indian food for the past while. I have always found what I am looking for at the Spice Shop, on top of that the staff have always been able to direct me to the right product even when I am not sure what I need.

Looks like they a good variety but for going the first time, the two ladies working in the front made my friend and I feel extremely uncomfortable. We were rudely asked not to take any pictures and told to delete them. We didn't have a problem following their rules, it's just the way she said it felt very rude and demanding and then I felt like they were talking about us with another customer. Honestly though they are over priced, their Maseca costs 12.99 but you can order it on Amazon for 6.99 and no shipping fees if you have Amazon prime.Edit: REPLYING TO THE REPLYSorry ladies but I have never been to this store before, it really bothers me to see how you LIE about me going there before. My friend however HAS been there and has made purchases like she DID that same day. She usually sees the owner which I hear is a very kind man with his wife, that's great to hear! Maybe if I would have had the pleasure of meeting him my opinion of this store would have been different. I did not take any pictures, like I said I did take out my phone to answer a message and see how much I had paid for a product on Amazon that you had in store. If it was the same cost or less or slightly above I would have known I can come here if I needed one asap. I didn't even know about this store until my friend told me. We were happy and excited (my friend was happy to be back) to check it out since we don't love near by. The biggest problem was your rudeness and how you gossiped with other customers. We could see you looking at us and how she continued turned around to stare and look my friend up and down and talking with you. It was very uncomfortable, take this as a learning experience and be nicer to people that's all. You reply shows that you take no accountability and are just here to blame others. And I did mention that Amazon prime will have an added cost to ship if you don't have prime, still you can still find it cheaper at 2 other local stores like kilamanjero and mama supermarket, both of which I have made reviews on with my great experience there. I'm just being informative and posting my experience. Not everyone looks at all the signs posted before entering a store, it's not hard to ask people NICELY to please not take pictures.... you informed us that people do that so they can lower the prices in other stores. I felt even accused that we were there to do that.I'm new here, I don't have store, and I don't have connections to do such things. What Do you mean genuine customers" this was my first time here i came into the store with a big smile the first 2 minutes in and I felt like I wanted to leave right after the interaction with you guys

The pricing of most of the items at your store are less costlier at Bombay Spices. I'm not comparing with big box stores like Walmart as such, but considering other Indian stores, the pricing should be at least competitive. If it's just 1 or 2 items, that's understandable, but it's entirely different. Almost all of the items that I've bought at your store are priced high.

Today I went into the store with some friends to see if we found something interesting or ingredients from back home. After a while, we were approached by one of the employees, she asked us not to take pictures, which I understand since is not allowed, but we never did! My friend just reached his phone to check the time.Anyway, she was very rude harrassing us through out the store. I'm not recommending the place anymore, and I'll just going in if I need something.Reply to review: no one took pics, you're just assuming my friend. Anyways, enjoy your store.

Most expensive Indian store in Moncton. Prices are sky rocketing with zero customer value. The owner’s attitude is buy or go to hell, I will sell goods with whatever price I feel like. Such arrogance! Everyone should boycott such an unnecessarily hiked store.
