This is my first time staying at a hostel and I enjoyed the experience! I stayed for 3 nights. Some positive things:- Location (beautiful beach a five minute walk away, 8 minute walk to a bus station that goes directly downtown, calm neighborhood that was usually quiet)- Safety (I felt safe in all of the area of the hostel, very friendly atmosphere, lockers for storage if you bring your own lock, left a few belongings out all day and never had anything moved/taken)- Tour offerings (Erik hosts fun tours, I did the Capilano tour for 43$ and got to see the beautiful forests, salmon fishery, and Capilano park. He sometimes told facts that were a little random, but you could tell he loves to host the tours!)Some things to work on:- Room temperature (there is no air conditioning or even fans to cool the rooms. I had a lot of trouble falling asleep the first night!)- Wifi (does not work in all areas of the hostel, including my room, which was frustrating)- Bathrooms (every morning when I went to get ready the bathrooms were closed for cleaning on my floor and I had to go downstairs. It was inconvenient and odd to me that cleaning was scheduled at a time when many people would be using the bathroom facilities)Overall it was a good experience; but it could have been amazing if there were a few tweaks/upgrades to the facility!

The worst hostel I've ever been to. Two stars only because the thing we reserved technically exists and is clean. Took 70 (seventy) minutes waiting in line to get checked in as the front desk staff tried to accommodate bizarre requests from guests, and failed with most of them, including running off to wake some guy up because they mistakenly thought he wasn't checked in and they double booked his bed.Parking in the connected lot is $14 for 24 hours, but if you use the app that is suggested on the giant sign it cuts you off at 11 pm the day you bought - meaning I paid 14 bucks for slightly under 30 minutes of parking, which was ALREADY FREE FROM 10 PM TO 6 AM.

I stayed at this hostel many years ago and am so happy to see it is still flourishing. A prime location amongst beaches and parklands, a wonderful facility and beautiful views back to Vancouver. I encourage the hostel to remain open all year to meet demand and further support the operations.

So close to being good!I’ve stayed at several HI locations throughout Canada and this was easily the most disappointing. The building needs an overhaul to keep up with other local hostels and rentals.POWER: This was the biggest issue by far. Charging devices was slow and difficult and my adapters constantly fell out of the power outlets in common rooms. The dorm bunks have no power at all which is super disappointing.CLEANLINESS: Even for Vancouver, there was an excess of decay, poorly ventilated bathrooms, and mouldy surfaces. Staff seem to do a decent job cleaning but the building itself isn’t built to deal with the humidity. The ceiling of the upstairs showers are coated in water droplets because the ventilation is so poor.PRICE: The price was quite cheap compared to other local hotels but very expensive compared to hostels elsewhere.MUST HAVES: Portable power bank, shower shoes, eye mask, ear plugs. As an HI member I’d love this location to meet the standards set by other HI Canada Hostels. It’s a shame that Samesun in downtown beats this location by nearly every metric at a similar price point. After a renovation I’d be happy to stay here again.

Honestly really unhappy with my experience here.I booked for a couple of nights and then had to cancel.Because they gave me a discount of a few dollars they refused to cancel my booking or even give me a partial refund of any kind.Given that I never used their service AND gave them advance warning of my cancellation this just feels like terrible business. They cite this discount/cancellation refusal thing as being clearly mentioned on their website and honestly, the total refusal to budge or help in any kind of way is really dehumanizing.I'm happy to concede their legal right to refuse me, but now I feel like a number to them. Obviously I'll just book with a different hostel next time.

Service was good at the desk when I arrived.Cheap budget, it's the place to go! You'll pay for it! I asked a tower at 6:30 am, the counter girl told me: Sorry

Listen, it's a hostel not the Four Seasons...The women's bathrooms were kind of hit or miss in terms of cleanliness. The folks at the front desk weren't the most polite, but they were helpful enough and did their jobs in an efficient way. Wifi was perfectly usable and the rooms were clean and without smells. Location is kind of far off but it's like a forty minute walk to Kitsilano or a $12 Uber so not too too bad. A literal 5 minute walk to the beach which was AMAZING

I had a nice time at the Jericho Beach hostel! It was very last minute that I ended up staying there and luckily they were able to accommodate me in one of their women's dorms. This hostel was not as clean or organized as some of the other hostels I've stayed at. The kitchen especially was a mess. But the rooms were clean enough and very spacious despite the number of people to a dorm!I would recommend ear plugs though because with so many people to a room, there is bound to be some noise with people coming and going. The best part is the location! The hostel is pretty much right on the beach and I caught the most amazing sunset over the mountains on my last night there. I also did a long walk along the shore all the way out to Pacific Spirit Park, which was a fantastic day trip. The location is not that convenient for transit, but there is a bus a ten minute walk away that comes frequently and can connect you with the rest of Vancouver. I preferred that over the hustle and bustle of downtown.Overall I felt that it was good value for the price and if I came back to Vancouver I would stay here again!

So this is a 2 star hotel- that being said I would give it a solid 4.5 stars -in the 2 star hotel category :) Staff was great and check in was super fast and easy!! The location is amazing and well obviously the price is dynamite... we had a private room with a bathroom. Rooms are basic and there is free parking just a block away.
