Tasty good food, nice ambiance, it could be a bit loud and warm but would still recommend. Make sure to get reservations because the place fills up quickThe oknomiyaki was quite large and filling, a good meal to share.Would recommend getting the mushroom tempura. Nice and fresh with a nice sesame sauceFor the yakitori, we got chicken skin, chicken thighs and pork belly. The chicken ones good but our favorite was the pork bellyThey got nice drinks, well serviced in English and overall very friendly

Unfortunately forgot to take pics of some things, they were all so tasty looking we started eating too quickly! Quick rundown of it all.... Edamame was the best we've had. The yakitoris were great. Chicken was fairly basic, but the pork belly was amazing! Perfectly spiced. The Calamari salad was incredible. The sashimi plate was delicious and each had some accoutrements that made it so different from regular sashimi and elevated it. Finally the croquettes were delicious along with the dip! Oh also good beer selection! Highly recommend.

Pretty authentic for an Izakaya house smack dab in Québec City. Place is rather small so be prepared to wait. The best place is at the kitchen bar where you can see the chefs preparing your orders. It can get pretty warm inside because it’s an open kitchen, which can be quite welcoming in the winter. Not mind-blowing but otherwise a great place to introduce yourself to Japanese izakaya.

This place was our best discovery, our special gem during the whole weekend spent at Quebec! Great ambiance, very nice waiters and absolutely delicious food! We had beef tataki, pulled pork dumplings, sausages, chicken skin and mushroom (King eryngi) skewers and white fish tartar served on rice with seaweed papers. Everything was exquisite! I'm still trying to process how those mushrooms were the best I've ever had in my life...

I recently visited Hono Izakaya in Quebec and it was an absolute delight! The ambiance was elegant in its minimalist decor, with a warm vibe that was perfect for catching up with friends. The sharable plates were a culinary masterpiece, bursting with unique flavors that left a lasting impression. And let's not forget about the drinks - the cocktail, beer, and sake selections were top-notch and perfectly complemented the dishes. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, adding to the overall fantastic experience. I highly recommend giving Hono Izakaya a try - you won't regret it!

I decided to try Izakaya Honō after having a good experience at his twin brother Honō Ramen. I would say I have mixed feelings about the place. The drinks and food are good and the service is nice and friendly. Though the portions are quite small and I find the food expensive compared to other local options. I was still hungry when I left, even if my partner and I ordered 2 appetizers and 4 plates. I think it is a place that I'ld recommend for a drink and a snack rather than a whole diner, especially if you like to endulge a bit more. So, I have nothing to complain about the food quality, but in terms of value for your money, there are way better options around.

Japanese Fusion restaurant with very friendly waiting staff.Unfortunately the food was quite a let down. It was quite pricey but the taste was disappointing. The fried shitaki were soggy, the chicken was quite bland without giving it any special touch. The pulled pork had a unfavorable taste with poorly cooked rice. All in all:probably one of the better dining experiences in Quebec, but a disappointment if someone is looking for authentic or special japanese cuisine.

The food was really good, however the restaurant was far too noisy. I don't normally think that about restaurants but I literally couldn't hear my husband across the table from me. The chicken yakitori was delicious and the okonomiyaki was good too. The drink was amazing, it's called Chiquita, it was off the virgin cocktail list.

We reserved the kitchen counter seating but I would suggest getting a seat at the bar as the view of the kitchen is limited and nothing like a sushi bar. We ordered the mescal and the Old fashioned (with the hibiki whiskey and 10 year aged Sochu). The drinks were fantastic and Possibly the best old fashioned I have had anc worth the $$$. We ordered multiple sharing plates. The standout dishes were the mushroom fritters and the pork. The disappointments were the Wagyu grill( it was luke warm and not charred like it should be) and the vegetable curry (gravy reminded me of the packaged brown gravy; fried tofu was great on its own).
