The City Of Calgary

Called 311 to ask about trimming a tree in front of my yard that has a broken branch. Got through within minutes, got a phone call back from the specific service within an hour confirming details, two hours later a crew is at our house trimming the tree. Everyone throughout the process has been super polite and pleasant to deal with. Truly excellent.

Calgary is such a nice clean looking place compared to many american cities, and especially mexico. HOWEVER, they have militarized / monetized their rules and regulations. As a visitor I didnt know that they have cameras set up at different locations looking for red light offender, and people speeding. (the red light fine is $405.00) I do not condone running red lights, however once in a while it happens. Seems like a money hungry fine to me. Used to be, years back, that the police were independent of the CITY. THAT means, when the budget was low, the officers would go out and TAG YOU for WHATEVER!! No kidding, time to round up some cash boys".. and the police chief said "we take care of our own". Hmmm maybe I will go to Klondike Days in Edmonton this year
