Great experience at Federal Metals. Went for new steel for a home project. Fair price and the yard tent guys we helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Very disappointed at the customer service in the office. I called in and told them what I had before I brought it in and they gave me a price for heavy metal. When I got there, the office tried to direct me to the light metal pile, but one of the yard employees looked at my load and directed me to the heavy pile instead. After I dumped, they paid me $50/ton less than they had quoted me. I questioned why and they said “rebar is a pain to work with” even though I told them I was bringing rebar before I drove in to the city. I used to take all my scrap there because it was convenient but now I’ll go out of my way to go somewhere else. I also left feedback on their website but no one even bothered to follow up with me. Bottom line, haul your scrap somewhere else where they pay what they say. Shady.

Incredible service and the best prices in town for mild steel. Never met warehouse workers as friendly as these guys. Just wish they would stock some specialty" steels like (4140

Federal Metals probably has the best prices for buying steel in Calgary, the guys in the steel tent are also great at helping you out. I've never had steel cut here and usually get stuff in 12ft lengths, but it looks like they can cut the steel too. Overall a great place to buy from.

Update: called for a price on steel and was told they dont know and to check the website. Juat skip this shop and go elsewhere.I dont have a credit card. So i cant buy any metal during this fake pandemic.They would rather push away a long time customer, than they would tske email transfer or a debit purchasePretty disappointing. Guess ill go elsewhere

They will rip you off, they give the lowest scrap value in Calgary.

Guys are absolute scabs. Took a load of steel roofing to recon on Monday and got $240.00. Took a bigger load to these clowns and got $53.20. Then I call the office a half hour after I left and the guy tells me there $170.00 a ton and not $70.00. Liars. Don’t waste your time and go to any other recycler.

Changed ownership, previous friendly faces gone but new ones more efficient.

Fair and Friendly! Even though my haul was small potatoes relative to the big contractors, the folks at Federal Metals treated me very well.. especially for a first-timer. I received a fair price for my materials (although I think I will start stripping all of my wire as copper is doing very well at the time of this writing). Thanks for the positive experience!
