Excellent B.B.Q House

Update -Excellent BBQ house has been my go to spot for years. A hidden gem that deserves more attention. What sets this place apart from others is it's depth of flavors. For example, the spices used to season the duck penetrates beyond the skin. The BBQ pork has charred and burnt ends, a must for BBQ. They tend to sell out of roast pork every time I come in the evening.With high quality comes a premium price tag. $13/lb for roast pork and $25/half duck. Well worth the extra money but also feels like a small indulgence.Clean, space to sit and eat. Don't expect a warm welcome. This place means business. You order, you pay and you eat.Highly recommend.--.Came here right before closing time and lady on the phone was nice enough to put aside as order until I got there minutes before closing. Been here on and off over the years and it still has above average BBQ. I like duck here the best. Char siu is on the smoky sweet side.

I have been buying from them over 20 years. They are well known in our area. The roasted meat is average quality. Price is quite expensive. $50 for a roasted duck and $12.90 per pound the BBQ pork.

Hearty good BBQ restaurant for self-serve dine in or take out. Closed Mondays.I used to come often and I feel like the quality went down a bit. There's also no tray now so you have to carry your bowls and dishes to your tables separately. But overall, a good quick meal. Nice owners.

I am a regular customer here and the roasted pork is usually pretty good, but this time was just ridiculous! The man who was chopping the meat is notorious for switching out the skin with the meat with different ones on the side (he even looked at me to see if i would notice). This time he gave me all completely burnt skin. I tried to bite into it and it was more tough than jerky and hard like a rock. Completely unedible. I called them after and her response was ill tell the chef." She didnt even try to make the sitaution right which shows you how she treats her customers. This ruined my experience and I won't be returning. 0/5 stars."

My favourite place uptown to get Chinese BBQ meat. $10 gets you choice of two meats on rice with some veg, soup and choice of drink (cold soy milk or cold sweet tea). Fast friendly service. Add some of the ginger and green onion sauce next to the cash register, so good.

Bought a 白切雞 (White Cut Chicken) and while the chicken itself was excellent, I am 100% certain the cashier purposely charged an extra dollar, and charged me $26 + tax instead of $25 + tax for the chicken. While I really don't care about the $1.13, it is a moral issue and looking at the comments this shop regularly cheats its customers. Not a good way to do business.Don't think I will come back again, good job losing a customer over $1.13.

Some alarm bells ring when a place calls itself Excellent BBQ Restaurant. Yet this place seems ever so popular in Richmond Hill with queue lines. There even appears to be a famous photo wall. So is it really excellent? I’d say it’s rather mediocre.We tried Excellent BBQ House a couple of times. Last time we ordered the BBQ Pork and Roast Pork combo which comes with rice, cabbage and clear soup. Some pieces of roast pork were more crispy than others. BBQ pork tasted dry. Both were on the saltier side. We’ve had better BBQ meat elsewhere at a lower price point.

The food is good, but I think the soup was spoiled because it was a bit sour. Ordered two rice. The staffs are nice. But i think it's a bit too expensive. It came out to $32.22 with two meals.

Great food, I will be coming here again, cook was super nice just remember to bring cash

FULL DISCLOSURE: I DID NOT GET PAID FOR THIS REVIEW!It's not like this restaurant needs to as the quality and consistency of their bbq duck and chicken is what other Chinese bbq places should aim for.The restaurant is in a food focused plaza and there are tables where you can eat after you pay. The staff are unusually friendly for a restaurant staffed by chinese people... they smile all the time and seem very friendly.Here are some key points on why I keep on coming back:1. Great tasting bbq meat!2. Consistently good!3. Excellent value - $10 for bbq meat, veges, rice, soup. And no tip is expected! You can't beat that deal!4. You get unlimited sauces (including ginger green onion sauce) without getting a dirty stare for asking for more.5. Been opened for a long time and still always a line up. Mean this restaurant is doing something right!6. The staff always smile =)I hope you all experience this chinese bbq meat restaurant!
