The place is a little dated and there are a few things that need to be updated on, but overall I would recommend and definitely come back to this hostel. Everyone is super friendly, the rooms are clean, and the vibe is quite eclectic. I stayed for two nights with my friends and we loved it. It is secured with keycard and codes access, and there is always staff around. The breakfast in the morning is a nice touch as well. Thank you for the awesome stay :)

I’ve been staying at Alexandrie for about ten years. It’s my go-to in Montreal. Great rates, comfortable digs (and they have added portable AC to the rooms). Excellent location as well: restaurants, depanneurs, craft beer store, SQDC, and transit all within walking distance.

I had an amazing time at this hostel. The people who work there are super friendly and are always in for some fun. The facilities are all there and everything is really clean. The people who are staying in the hostel are all likeminded travelers who are always up to explore the city or just hang out. I enjoyed my stay so much that I booked extra rooms twice and I'm definitely planning on returning here!

Good things: Firstly, I'll tell you that Alexandrie It's a very big place with many common areas. What they differ most from other hostels, is the space they offer. Even the rooms have great spaces with shelves to put your things and a writing desk. Therefore, it's a very comfortable place. Secondly, there are usually 3 refrigerators and plenty of space to put your food in boxes and the boxes on shelves. There's not much space in the refrigerators, but this may depend on how full is the hostel and you can always find a space to put your food anyway. The breakfast is pretty simple but I loved it, you have 3 different kinds of breads (brown, white and a sweet one with raisins), peanut butter, maple syrup butter, jams, margarine, caramel, fruit salad (just the banana is really fresh the rest is from a can), orange juice (not fresh), coffee and cow milk. The hostel has ice skates you can use to go skating and bikes for the summer. The area where the place is located is great, there are many dance clubs, restaurants, grocery stores, and bars; also, it's close to Saint Catherine and the metro station. There's a park nearby where you can see many squirrels. Since it is situated in a gay village, the streets are colored with many gay flags.Bad things: It is not as organized and cleaned as other hostels may be; moreover, the building is an old construction, so you may feel like it is dirtier than it actually is. The showers and toilets are far from some rooms, they are in the sub solo; thus, if you are in a room without toilets this might be uncomfortable. All in all, in the beginning, you can get a little bit disappointed with the bad things, but u get used to how everything works and learn to enjoy more the great things this hostel has to offer.I loved my experience there. People where kind, I could always find a space to study, there were many sofas and it was warm enough.

Service is great. Location is amazing (5 minute walk to St Catherine) and building feels secure at night. Beds are comfortable.Only one bathroom in the room for 8 beds. Common bathrooms are 4 stories below if you're on the top floor (unless I missed some). Difficult to find street parking on a busy weekend.

By far one of the best hostels that I've stayed in and I've travelled plenty! The staff from the very beginning were super helpful and offering tons of suggestions of things we can do and places to eat. I loved the common area of the hostel as a place to relax and hang out during some down time. There were always people around to chat with, but it was never to loud if you wanted to sleep.

Nice place with good vibes and a very original / hippie decoration. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location, right in the centre and close to good nightlife areas. The shower are a bit weird, with shower curtains separating them, but men and women shower are in different rooms, so no problem with that.

This hostel has a very friendly and welcoming staff who take the time to explain everything to you. The building is older but has a very friendly feel to it. There are planned activities for you to get involved in if you wish. There is no air conditioning which can make it a bit warm at times. They offer free laundry washing facilities and breakfast which is a perk go this hostel.

Such a great experience! Everyone was really nice, friendly, clean and comfortable atmosphere. NOT for 18 year olds looking to have a party every night but for backpackers who want to make friends, have a good time and get advice from locals. We stayed in a private room which was actually a shared apartment with kitchenette and bathroom. Great experience.

This hostel had great staff and had a good group of backpackers while we were there. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient too. The only problems were it's a bit dirty and crowded. I had trouble sleeping because there were no curtains on my windows and the sun shone in around 6am. I would recommend one of the private rooms or the 6 bed dorms as they have their own washrooms inside. The shared washrooms have showers that are similar to the gym so it's a bit of a line up there in the morning.
