Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex

The building itself is nicely renovated and has a lot of amenities like a pool, skating rink, gym, coffee shop, and meeting rooms. The staff are pretty friendly. The kidsplash pool is nice and warm for kiddos. You can only book for 45 minutes with one parent online which is annoying. They had some toys out for kids to play with but took them away half way through the time slot for some reason. The capacity is 20 people in the whirlpool during kidsplash but they will ask people to leave if they notice others wanting to come in, which is also annoying because the other colder pool is not great for very little kids/babies. It is also on the other side of the pool area so you have to pass the lane pool to get there which isn’t ideal, should maybe be side by side? The viewing area is convenient, there are signs everywhere to ask not to take pictures inside for privacy reasons, which I understand, but there are other pools that allow it. Coming out of the water also makes you smell funky, not like the typical chlorine smell, it’s not horrible but not pleasant, so you’d probably need a second shower after showering here. It’s nice they have parking for families with small children prioritized near the handicap parking. Seems like there’s a lot of parking but it can get quite busy. The kidsplash rates are also pretty affordable, it was between $6-7 for a parent and child for one session.

Nice arena. The kids were excited to play here!

Mostly free to the public. Have gone to watch an ice hockey match between the local team and some opponents. Got charged nothing to watch the whole event. Also got lucky to watch my first Ice dance live during the weekend. It was fun to watch that act.

Loved this place. Was my 1st Canadian hockey game ever when visiting with friends/family who took me here.

Great rink, pool, and track. Reminds me of the 90s from the decor to the friendly and competent staff.

Sam Lorincz is one of kindest workers I have ever met in any recreational Centre in my life. He was incredibly helpful with directions, had a great & friendly demeanor with me & my kids. He helped save my kid with special challenges from drowning from dangerous waters. Will come here again due to great service.

Had a wonderful time attending an ice show. The place is huge and has a lot of amenities for all ages.

The parking and inside of the building are great. The event we attended at the pool by another group was not good. They took an admission donation but didn't help with seating.

My 4 kids all take swimming lessons here. The pools are large and clean. The staff are friendly and my kids feel confidant in the pool with their instructors. The change rooms are big with lots of lockers and showers and change stalls. I do wish they had more parking near the main entrance.
