Bump to Baby Family Services

We had our son during the pandemic, and our experience was already quite different than we had expected! We couldn’t do too many prenatal classes before his birth, so once we had him my husband and I were a little overwhelmed to say the least. Breastfeeding was something I knew I wanted to do, but obviously had no idea what to do properly. Belinda happened to be one of the lactation consultants going around the hospital while we were there, and because my son ended up at the NICU, our stay was longer than expected. She came by so many times to try and help my son and I get our breastfeeding rhythm going, but it felt like our timing was always off because of my sons tests, or sleeping schedule! I was struggling, and Belinda came more than she needed to to help finally secure a time with us to help my son and I figure out our feeding groove. She really helped us figure out what to improve on, and stayed until I was comfortable with what I needed to do. We also coincidentally had her for each of our breastfeeding clinic visits once we got discharged, and she went above and beyond to help us and make sure we were on the right track with our son’s feedings, weight gain, etc. I actually also reached out to her for some resources once I started weaning my son from breastfeeding almost 15 months later, and although it was well outside of the timeframe that she helped us, she was more than willing to help me find resources and give me guidance on how to address my concerns and questions. I am so grateful for all the help and guidance we got from Belinda, I couldn’t be more grateful for the support she offered and confidence she gave me during our breastfeeding journey. I can’t recommend her enough and am so happy she’ll be able to help more families in the future!
