Algonquin Bound Outfitters

In early September 2021, we rented a canoe for a day. We picked up the life jackets and paddles at the store and the canoe was delivered to our access point which was very convenient. We found the 2 gentlemen who served us very friendly. Even though Francois was very busy, he was particularly helpful and gave us advice and suggestions about paddling up Barron River from Squirrel Rapids to beyond the Barron Canyon. When we returned the canoe, a little after closing time, he was still there and was really interested to hear how our day had been. Thanks Francois!Brenda and Brian

I've read all the reviews and must admit that the criticisms of Francois are surprising.My experience is much different. This past Saturday evening, just before 6pm, we were heading home to Ottawa following a day paddle at Achray. The condition of the Barron Canyon Road was the worst we have ever experienced. it was TERRIBLE. While driving at about 40kph, I looked out to see our kayak trailer doing its best to leave the car. The axle had sheared off one side of the trailer.I unhitched the trailer and my wife drove the 5 km to Algonquin Bound. It was closed but luckily Francois was doing some administrative work. She told him about our problem. He drove her and his trailer back to me, loaded up our kayaks, and brought them back to the store. He insisted that we put the kayaks in safe keeping in the store.On Sunday morning, I returned with a large trailer, loaded up my broken trailer and picked up the kayaks from Francois.Francois would take nothing for this time and efforts to help us.Our situation could have been and would have been much more traumatic if not for Francois.I realize that this is not a review of the store and its treatment of customers. However, for my wife and I, at least, our experience with Francois was definitely 5 star.

We have an incredible experience down the Petawawa River. it was in a very large part thanks to do incredible service we got at Algonquin bound. Their canoes are great. It is very well organized and trustworthy. I highly recommend them. If you go down the Petawawa River don't forget to buy the book at the entry of the park it will save your life.

I will definitely be going back to Algonquin bound for my next trip!! My friend and I went to Achray for a week and Francois helped us out soooo much!! He taught us the way around to get to all the points we wanted to go and showed us the best route to get there, he showed us how to put a canoe on my friends car!! He was so friendly towards us and made are trip soo much better!! If it weren’t for you are your kind heart are trip would not have been the same without your support!! I highly recommend useing Algonquin bound for your trip!!

Everyone is so kind and helpful, and every time I rent from them I have a great experience. I love being on the water and can't imagine a trip to my favourite place without a kayak or canoe. I honestly can't say enough good things about ABO and their staff!

We had a wonderful experience with Algonquin Bound Outfitters! They were very knowledgeable and helpful with guiding our Barron Canyon canoe trip. They showed us how to mount a canoe on our car, about the portage points to expect and how long to plan for. We were also visiting the area and when we returned to drop off our equipment, there was a sign addressed to us with some restaurant recommendations. Super helpful! Thank you!!

Great people all around! Decent rental prices and solid canoes. If i could give one small suggestion though it would be to improve your canoe paddles. I rented from the outfitters last year so perhaps this has been dealt with already. Either way, it's not a big issue by any means.

Fantastic canoe rental experience with these guys! Originally they only had one superlight kevelar canoe left as it was our fault for booking late, however, they managed to come through and surprise us with 2 super lights. Flexible and reasonably priced access point deliveries. Will definitely use their service again.
