Taste Hot Pot
Great selection of meats, seafood, mushrooms and specialty items for hot pot, in a lovely, comfortable, quiet setting. Service is fast and friendly.Note that while the place opens at 11am and closes at 11pm or midnight, it does not serve food continuously throughout these hours. The kitchen closes at 3pm, and reopens a couple of hours later for dinner. You are welcome to stay inside if you've already been served, but no additional food or drinks will be served after 3pm.Also note that the place does not have a liquor license. They do, however, offer some wonderful juices.Parking at the Times Square plaza can be tricky, but you'll usually find spots on the periphery.

Let me start off by saying that this is not a review regarding the food at Taste Hot Pot. The food is average and on par with many other AYCE Hot Pot places in the area. This review is regarding their truly terrible service. I have little to no expectations of good service when visiting an AYCE Hot Pot establishment, the expectation begins and ends with food arriving at my table. The utter lack of service at Taste Hot Pot, however, is outstandingly non-existent.Firstly, it is impossible to make a reservation as their telephone rings on and and no one every picks up, which, upon entering the establishment is clear why. Secondly, its apparently impossible to get any sort of service even when in the restaurant. There were three of us who arrived on Saturday night at approximately 7pm, we understand that it is prime dinner hour and were expecting to wait. Upon arrival, we stood at the front door for approximately 10 minutes; the restaurant was partially empty and no one in line in front or behind us, we watched as the staff milled about in front of us, avoiding eye contact. We were finally able to get the attention of the gentleman behind the bar, who then flagged down a server. The server approached us and we advised her there were 3 of us waiting to be seated, to which she responded that there weren't any tables available. When asked how long the wait would be, without checking a wait list, or even simply checking the empty tables, the server advised that the table would be at least an hour wait. I looked around the restaurant, immediately behind me, there were 2 empty tables, behind the server there were 3 tables that needed to be cleaned, but otherwise empty, and another table, in front of the bar that needed to be cleared, but was devoid of customers. At this point I approached the bartender and pointed out all of the empty tables, the server argued with him in Mandarin, and advised him that the empty tables did not have heating elements. After pointing out that while I could acknowledge that 2 of the 6 tables did not have a heating element, the other 4 tables clearly had heated broths which simply needed to be cleared off, he then offered to clear the tables so that we may have a seat. By that point, my husband was already on the phone with Too Hot Hot Pot (who actually pick up their phone) and had reserved a table for us, so we did not take them up on the offer and left.I hope for the sake of the business owner that the staff is not trained to be so dismissive and lazy. I'm not sure how, in this competitive environment, a restaurant can survive while turning away paying customers due to pure lethargy.

Even though it's called Taste Hot Pot, taste is very average. There is nothing amazing in my opinion. Atmosphere and the renovation of the restaurant is very nice and trendy. If you go for the the most spicy soup base, it does get pretty spicy but still not the most spicy Hot Pot I had in GTA. Price is on the higher side, considering the choices of food and drinks. Verdict: Worth a try if you are a Hot Pot lover like me but just not worth a second visit.

I celebrated my birthday here and it is a surprise for me. This is the best Sichuan Style hot pot I ever had in Toronto! High quality of food and very good customer service. The owner Ryne is so kind and offered me a special Birthday Raman, it was prepared with heart. A truly surprise. I recommend Sichuan Beef Oil hot pot. The mutton is very fresh and tender, the seafood is fresh and in a large size, the vegetables are very fresh, too. One order there is larger than other restaurants, we couldn't even finish our first order. It was really a happy and impressive dinner. Will come next time for sure! Highly recommend to everyone!

the taste of this restaurant is ok. we order first round food comes successfully. Then, we wanna order more food to eat the second round. We order food by scan QR code given on the table. we wait about 30mins, no food comes. we asked waiters twice, they said this qr code couldnt work but they could write down what we want to order. then, another 30 mins gone, still no food comes to our table. we leave without paying tips. With a angery heart and a hungry stomach, we need to find somewhere else to eat more.

They take American Express! First hotpot I went that takes Amex! Will go again for my Amex points! Overall dining experience is not bad. Only advise is that the service could be a bit faster and the food should be enough prepared as there were few items that ran out. But in general Recommended.

Food is good. You make your own food here and choose your own sauce which is fun. Nice atmosphere. Service sucks. No one greeted us and sat us in the beginning. We had someone explain how to order since it's my first time. They speak mandarin and some Cantonese. Barley English. The servers are not attentive. I would come here again food is good just don't expect great service. Most of the items on the Menue they say we don't have right now". Also they didn't give me spoons to get my soup I had to ask if they even have one. I was so confused on how to eat and the bowls are so small and awkward."

The store hour were so flexible. I went there with my friends five times, only got a table once. The business may have a break or stop taking care of waiting list at 12pm, 4pm, 4pm or even 8:30pm, but the funny thing were the store were not busy.Hot pot is above average, but the service were... Server returned the watercup after she refilled the water, but one of her finger was in the water. We found it happened twice.

The food was okay. There weren't much choices in terms of food varieties, but like many others have mentioned-- orders were delivered fairly quickly, and the services were nice. I've been here twice and we were fortunate to meet with polite waitresses both times. I'm really happy about the free WiFi in which they have provided us, so that we could be preoccupied while waiting for our meals to be delievered to us. Overall we had a great time, but I've deducted a few stars for the average taste, the lack of food choices and the not-very-tender A grade beef.
