Andres Fly Fishing
Andres is a fabulous fishing guide. My husband and I had a great time fishing the Elk river with him. He took the time to find the right fly whenever the fish weren’t biting and was patient with our first experience fishing from a drift boat. Food was outstanding. We caught lots of fish and are ready to go again.

My son and I have been fishing with Andres for 5 years, with epic adventures together in both Fernie, BC and Chile! Andres has a contagious passion and knows how and where to get you onto the fish. Besides being a fabulous guide he also has gourmet talents and fantastic skills in capturing the adventure on film. I highly recommend you book a few days with Andres on the Elk and add Chile to your bucket list! -- Mark & Brayden Maier

Andres and Tanner hosted a fantastic week in Patagonia for our group of 3. The experience was curated and authentic, and the Guides went above and beyond on several occasions.Highlights from the trip include the landscape and setting of each water we fished, Andres' top-notch shore lunches, the knowledge and experience of the guides - and of course the quality of the fishing! Would highly recommend Andres and his Team to anyone looking for a proper Patagonia fly fishing experience.

When we booked andres we lucked out, i called him the night before on a whim and was able to secure the next two days for fishing. One of the nicest and most professional guides i've fished with. We had 2 great days of fishing and were able to put 2 bull trout over 28 in the net! we will be back for sure

Andres is the best fishing guide I have encountered. He is a passionate, affable human being with deep knowledge of where the fish are and how to catch them. You will catch fish with this guy!His is drone use in finding open holes and documenting your fishing experience is unique and great fun. Food on the river is gourmet, the atmosphere on the boat is upbeat and full of great fishing technique information. If you are lucky enough to get your booking with him (book early), you will never regret it! Tight lines.

Perfect introduction to fishing the Canadian Rockies and Patagonia-Chile. Andres is a talented, energetic and dedicated guide whose focus on delivering a great experience to every angler, regardless of skill level, shows through in everything he does. I first fished with Andres in Fernie for 3 days and every day was memorable. Day one was on a gin-clear spring-fed lake sight-casting nymphs to large cruising rainbows and casting dries to bows rising to a damsel hatch. Days 2 and 3 were drifting the Elk River catching bull trout on streamer and cutthroats on dries. Despite early-season high water, Andres put me on fish and gave appropriate guidance to ensure we brought fish to the boat. His guide lunches, with the Rockies and wildlife setting a scenic background, are among the best – grilled salmon on pasta, pressed Cuban sandwich, grilled pork medallions, salads, pastries and French-pressed coffee – and almost made it hard to resume fishing. It was a great trip. So, when it was time to plan my first trip to Patagonia with my best friend, it was easy to decide to whom I should entrust such a trip, knowing Andres grew up fishing Patagonia-Chile. I have described the week spent with Andres and his team in Coyhaique as “life expanding” - the fishing experience was great, the scenery jaw-dropping, and the lodge was first-rate, comfortable with unassuming luxury with excellent food and wine included. Andres tailored the fishing experience to our goals and introduced us to the varied waters in the area: a pristine high-mountain turquoise lake with water so clear you could see fish 20 feet down but not another boat; followed by an easy walk and wade casting to rising fish on a lazy river meandering through cow pastures; followed by floats down larger rivers where casting and hook set technique came into focus; culminating in two days on high mountain lakes where the legendary Patagonia weather – rain and rising wind - added challenge and adventure as Andres found sheltered pockets where we could present a fly to big lake browns. Every day the guiding was first-rate and the shoreline meals were a memorable part of every day. I have yet to meet another guide who provides such restaurant-quality meals waterside (perfectly cooked seared salmon and tuna; bacon wrapped filet mignon), served with a selection of local wines or tops it off with a freshly brewed coffee or latte. Andres’ professionalism, attention to detail and enthusiasm comes through in every aspect of the trip - from his guiding, to designing fishing experiences to meet each angler’s goals, to introducing us to local foods (like an impromptu stop at a road-side empanada stand to sample the food before asking our opinion on whether they should go on the river menu), and ensuring that every aspect of the trip contributes to a memorable experience. His deep knowledge of the region allows him to customize and adapt the experience to adjust for unforeseen events in a seamless fashion while delivering the highest quality experience. And it doesn’t hurt that he is good company in a boat and his cinematic talents provide his clients with quality images of these special times. I can heartily recommend fishing with Andres Fly Fishing both north and south of the border.

I spent three incredible days fly fishing the Elk River, Michel Creek, and the Saint Mary's River in Fernie, BC with Andres Gonzalez and Tanner Faith in July 2023. They do an incredible job as a boutique fly fishing guide service and I cannot recommend them highly enough. It's a world class operation. We caught far more than our fair share of trout of all shapes and sizes, but I also learned a tremendous amount about reading the water, improving my cast and set, selecting flies, and navigating the river.Andres is also a very experienced filmmaker, so I learned an amazing amount about using a GoPro, an iPhone and even a DJI drone to capture a lot of the action. This is a new hobby for me, so his video and phone recording insights were a special and very unique part of the three days for me. I'm sure not all his clients care about this but for me it was great to go deep with him. Both Andres and Tanner are patient teachers with the right balance of tranquility and positive energy. I would fish with them again in Patagonia or Fernie in a heartbeat and I consider them among the best guides I've fished with.

As I'm not new to fly fishing I am new to using guides. Right from the moment we met Andreas I could tell it was going to be a good day. He was very professional but was also good for some laughs. The day we were out we had some very tough winds at time and Andreas gave me some great tips to get me casting where I needed the fly to go. We boated some really nice fish and to top it all off he cooked us up a phenomenal shore lunch. I will definitely use Andreas again in the future. Hopefully down in South America next time. Really appreciate the great memories Andreas!

I have known Andres for 10+ years and have fished with him in British Columbia many times each season and 3 times in the Patagonia area of Chile. Our company has done multiple corporate trips through the years in BC, and I as well have done many trips with friends and family. The guides Andres use to complete his team always measure up to his standards. It has been a great experience every single time. The knowledge Andres has is next to none, and his enthusiasm is contagious. Along with that he has fun on the river and there is a smile on his face all day long. Highly recommended for any fly angler from the novice all the way to the most experienced fly fisher.Rob B.

My husband Jim and I have fished with Andres for several years on the Elk River and have always had outstanding fishing success. Andres is very knowledgeable about the river and the fish and always provides a quality experience whether you are a beginning or experienced angler. He actually know where the fish live. He's a very fun guy to fish with and serves up the best shore lunch you'll ever have.
