Costco Pharmacy

Prices are cheap but service is bad. My wife went here to get diagnosed with 'pink eye', she is a child care provider and is well aware of its symptoms, pharmacists have been given the ability to diagnose these minor health issues in Ontario...not at Costco (too American administered?). They gave her the run around, even sent her to their optometrist who wouldn't have anything to do with her because she wasn't their patient (shouldn't the pharmacist have known that?), she left undiagnosed without a prescription. She went to Shoppers D.M. after 8pm, was diagnosed with 'pink eye' and left with the prescribed drug. And that is the kind of 'service' you can expect at Costco Pharmacy.

They are a solid 3.5 stars.4 stars is pushing it some days- but others, they are a 5.There is ALWAYS a long line, so just accept it.Previous years, they've completely dropped the ball and NEVER had my prescription filled after an hour and a half of shopping.The past 12-18 months though, they have had it ready every time.For someone without insurance, it is absolutely less expensive.If you have insurance, take your privilege somewhere else if Costco isn't convenient and you let your perscriptions run down to the last pill.It's a busy place. With the amount of people they see a day, they can't get it right every time. You can't expect them to put you ahead of the other hundred people also needing their meds. You also can't expect them to force another pharmacy to transfer your prescription. They can't just go and steal your personal information.I try to only go quarterly, getting 3 months at a time.It works for me and I'll continue to use this pharmacy.

Extremely rude staff. I was shocked at how they speak to people, and even more so when I saw they had a name tag labelled manager! I get its a busy pharmacy, but there's no need to talk to people how they do. They also didn't bill the insurance company correctly. I asked twice if it was correct, as I have 90% coverage and they insisted it was only 50% covered. I let them know I checked ahead of time to confirm what I should be paying. This was a $200 dollar medication and she refused to resubmit it. Seeing how they speak with customers I did not ask again, and decided to deal with the insurance company instead. Insurance confirmed Costco submitted it incorrectly. I don't care what the savings are - I will be returning to my usual pharmacy.

This pharmacy is more often than not the worst customer experience of any of my given days. I have to make sure I have at least an hour set aside for every visit.3/4 times I will have to wait 30 mins in line (which is fine, it's a busy place) only to be told my prescription isn't ready for a few days because they do not read the schedule for it. This is also after making sure to call ahead in advance to make sure this specifically doesn't happen. I then have to deal with them to finally agree to fill it and then wait another 10-30 minutes for them to prepare it.

We have been using the North London location for several years now and have nothing but positive interactions and experiences here. It can (like Costco itself) get busy but you just have to roll with it and adjust accordingly. Staff are extremely friendly, conscientious and professional and always seem to go that extra measure if needed. Over our time they have evolved and improved some practices to help speed up their process and lessen delays or at least give you a pick up time to return for your scrips. I also believe that they allow non members to use the services of the pharmacy and have a mail delivery program as well.

My Doctor faxed a second prescription for ongoing UTI (2 weeks - woman who have had one, know how I feel) at 8:30 am. He sent me a message to say it was faxed and he asked that they call when ready. At 10:01 am I called to request an immediate fill. She said it would be ready at 11:30. At 12:45 on lunch break, after I waited for 8 customers in front of me. I was told they never received it. I sent a message to my Doctor. The Doctor called the pharmacy at 1:35 pm and was told they have it, verified my DOB etc. When I called at 3:25 pm to ensure it was filled, I am told they don't have it! Now they blame shift change for loss of the one they were told they had at 1:35 pm! Yes, it is a very busy pharmacy but simple organization would resolve a lot of issues.

Incredibly unorganized. Can’t fill prescriptions because med is back ordered, which I understand. I’ve spent a week trying to coordinate a simple fax to my doctors office for a substitution. Doctors office says they haven’t received fax from Costco, Costco says they’ve faxed it. Doctors office then says they faxed prescription to Costco and Costco says they didn’t receive anything. Absolute madness. The low dispensing fee isn’t worth the headache of this place. I’d give zero stars if it was possible.

Excellent pharmacist Bernice, for prompt response in getting medicine refill at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
