Petrolia Discovery
Great for kids to explore and learn about a little-known area of Canadian history. The schoolhouse was a hidden gem for the kids. Quiet and peaceful with friendly guides available to answer questions.

Passing through the area we thought we would stop and check out the petrolia area. We decided to visit the Petrolia discovery area, and had a wonderful tour with a young student Ian. He was very knowledgable and walked us through the whole process from beginning to end. It was educational, informative, and fun. His tour was outstanding and this historic area, run by volunteers deserves a lot of credit for preserving this history and sharing. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone interested in Ontario history!

An awesome experience! Take a step back in time....Petrolia area was where oil was first discovered the world! Most people aren't aware of this! It's amazing that technology from the late 1800's is still working and producing oil. An experience not to be missed.

The turned out to be a hidden gem. The guide gave a knowledgeable tour about the site and history of the early oil industry. Several buildings and working wells bring the history to life.

We visited Petrolia Discovery on the hottest day of the summer. We are moving to Petrolia soon, so while driving around we saw the Free Tours" sign. We were enthusiastically met by our tour guide

Petrolia is a nice quiet little town that offers picturesque sceneries. Beautiful to walk through. Stop in for lunch at one of the cute little cafes or take in a play at the Victoria playhouse.We always enjoy walking through the discovery or popping into the local library

If you want to really experience the Petrolia Discovery, take the guided tour. Today was my second visit to the museum, and the young man, (soon to be heading to Guelph University) was a fountain of knowledge and such a wonderful guide. You can't really get a good understanding of how important this museum is and how Petrolea (Petrolia) influenced the world of oil and drilling techniques. Don't pass up the tour. What a great visit! Very interesting history of the oil industry in Lambton County and great displays. The volunteers and donors have done a wonderful job. We had a pleasant personal tour.
