The aren't doing appts right now due to covid

complete rip off. didn't clean the chimney as requested. charged $510 for worthless inspection. did not follow through as promised. does not answer his phone. stay away.

Dan Murphy serviced our two fireplaces and he was great. Very knowledgeable and was helpful showing us how to properly maintain them. Would call again!

I'm assuming the previous reviews were all writen when Jim Duffy owned this company..It is now Owned by a former employeee - Dan Murphy.I have been Jim's neighbor for many years so you would think when my husband calls Dan for some work he would be a bit more than helpful!But that was far from the case -first we called 3 or 4 times and had to argue with the girl taking his calls when she said he doesnt work on chimneys - right then I should have found someone else, but again since Jim was my neighbor and highly recommended him and told me to tell him who I was we gave it another chance and insisted Dan call directly do discuss.Finally days later when he decided to call, he didnt show up the first few times, then after we got a bit angry he showed up - was very helpful and apologetic. He had an excuse for everything and seemed sincere, he gave us an estimate.(350)I said yes please do the work, this was around Sept when we had some cold days, he said later this week when its warmer we'll come out.Well guess what - he never showed up, I called the oblivious secretary and his cell phone, was told he would still come out.2 weeks went by, then 3 weeks... I finally called and left a message that if they dont want my business just tell me and I will look elsewhere..3 months later and I've never heard back from them.they are very inconsiderate, do not keep an appt and will waste your time..I highly DO NOT recommend this company -Dont waste your time and just look elsewhere!

Had these guys in for second opinion (third actually) on relining a flue. All my neighbors are right, these guys are straight shooters and don't up-sell you on expensive work you don't need. I highly recommend them for second opinions. They will be my go-to chimney sweep and fireplace servicing company from now on.

Dan Murphy did an excellent job. Inspected the fireplace and then rather than charge me for something that wasn't needed, he explained what I needed to do. Price to inspect the chimney was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Ye Olde Chimney Sweep and Dan Murphy

Very knowledgeable service

Hired Dan to inspect two chimneys in our new house, and to clean one in our old house before listing it for sale. While they were tough to schedule (he's in high demand), when Dan came, he was professional, knowledgable and thorough. He didn't try to upsell us, and I am confident that his safety inspections ensured that our chimneys are safe to use (he's also a Chicago firefighter!). Highly recommended.
