I’m a relative beginner to skiing and this place was recommended by an experienced coworker. The staff here are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I have a hard time finding boots that fit because I have a wider calf, and Kevin and Norm stayed long past closing time to help me get exactly the right fit (thank you so much and I’m so sorry that took so long!), and another of the young employees who’s name I sadly didn’t catch also helped me a ton. They also have a great selection of all kinds of equipment. For other beginners who don’t know where to start or what to look for in a good boot, etc., I highly recommend this place.

Could not have been made possible without the time and patience Scott had taken to educate me about the right ski for myself was sincerely appreciated. Went for boot fitting for, arguably the most important part of the skier's arsenal; boots. All young guys on a weekend, no expert bootfitter in sight. Though I enjoyed the experience and the bootfitter was a pro himself, the youngun would have happily sold me an $800 pair of boots that didn't fit quite right. Could curl my toes. There was a certain lack of care and no other boot was offered for fitting. my last was not checked. I have learned that in order to find the right boot you need to let go of what you want and try different boots on to find the right fit, but this advice was not given or followed. The consensus amongst my pro skier mother and her friends that the Sign of the Skier was for rich people who want to look good on the mountain still seems to stand.

Stay away from this store! It does have some good staff (hence good reviews) but you risk dealing with someone not so professional!An employee quoted me something and when I decided to do the work and brought my ski equipment, the supervisor almost doubled the price. He also tried to sell me something I did not need (sharpening brand new skis!).When I asked why the price is different, his first reaction was to ask me to take it somewhere else (which I did).He should have honored their quote or at least acknowledged the employee's mistake, considering the inconvenience it caused me.

I went in there after 10 AM and was out of there with the biggest and satisfied smile. Being a middle aged new skier, I am unqualified to make any decisions regarding equipment. But, as soon as I stepped inside The Sign, Matt C. took care of me from the beginning to the end, ensuring I got the proper fitting ski boots, skis, and poles and all under an hour. The level of knowledge, couteousness and patience that Matt has cannot be found in any other ski shop. I have been shopping at The Sign for years as my teenager is an accomplished skier, so this 5 star review is very overdue. Thank you for your supreme customer service, choices and excellent price point on equipment.March 5, 2023 - updated to reflect that I went there again today to purchase another set of skis for an advanced skier in my family and the help I got from Liam was so appreciated by me. Liam really gave me the confidence I needed to purchase the proper length skis, bindings and poles. I always feel like I get the greatest guidance every time I call or step foot in here and also with every sales associate there. What a great store! Thank you again for another memorable experience.

I much enjoyed buying junior ski equipment in this store today. Very knowledgeable and lovely staff and management. I shopped there years ago for my kids and myself, now back with my granddaughter. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating to what we needed. Highly recommend.

I don’t normally write reviews but there’s always an exception. I can’t thank The Sign for going above and beyond! I needed to get my ski tuned for a trip and they managed to accommodate last minute request. On collection day I was stuck at work (unplanned) and unable to collect in person. Once again they have demonstrated excellent customer service at personal level, by allowing virtual sign off so I could get Uber to collect it! My ski is now nice and shiny like new! Thank you so much!

Was recommended this place by a knowledgeable ski friend when needing to get new boots, skis and bindings, and I'm so glad I went here rather than a SportChek. The staff are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to ski gear and boot fittings, and are super patient and friendly to make sure you get what you need and that it all fits properly. Prices are no different than what you would pay elsewhere or online and the real human touch made the trip here well worth it. Will be coming back here for sure for any ski related matters!

Extremely disappointed. Shopped at this store 10 years ago while I was heavy into racing. It was great. Went back recently got a helmet for full price at $500.00. Went to Skis and Bikes in Mississauga and found the same helmet for half off. Called about the return policy and was told we only had 10 days. Needless to say, only returning to The sign to return the helmet. Decided to buy the rest of our equipment at Skis and Bikes.
