The Halliburton
I loved this hotel! The first night I had a queen room with a queen bed and a single bed in a little alcove off the main room. Perfect for my daughter. When she left to go back home, I moved into a 'petite' room for 3 more nights. The room was ample sized. The rooms were very clean, staff were lovely, and the location was perfect. I'd definitely stay at the Halliburton again.

I stayed at the Halliburton twice on my East Coast Trip. First stay was in one of the two outer buildings and the second stay was in the main building. Overall it was really good, the rooms are clean and has a lot of character. They do not have fridges so be aware if you want to buy ice cream or save leftovers.A lot of people have complained about the stairs. Yes there are stairs in both the buildings I stayed in. No elevators. Remember these buildings were built in the 1800s! They are likely protected historically inside and outside, depending on the provincial legislation. Further, these are small buildings so you cannot expect the owners to knock down walls and reduce the number of guest rooms for elevators.Service is wonderful and the staff are friendly. There is a courtyard in the back as as well as free parking. In such a location you normally don't get that. Overall, highly recommended!

If you're like me, you gravitate to the negative reviews first as the most accurate assessments of a location's merits. In this regard, I've found all of the negative reviews for the Halliburton to be as far removed from reality as Pluto is from the Sun. Addressing a few of them individually: Dated decor. I'm wondering which decor one would otherwise associate with a Georgian-period dwelling? A classically restrained Sheraton-style, or a modern arrangement one normally associates with gaudy nail salons and discotheques? The second quibble is the absence of an elevator. Most people should be able to comprehend that this structure predates the invention of the elevator by over half a century. Secondly, two flights of stairs isn't the physically demanding equivalent of the Hillary Step on Everest, and shouldn't deter anyone from staying here. If anything, the stairs add to the charm of the Inn. Noise: This will only come as a shock to someone under intense medication, but there isn't a large thriving city on earth whose chief attribute is an over abundance of silence; it's kind of like expecting a swim to not make you wet. Despite its location, I found the noise levels low enough not to attract my attention. Regarding interior noises, I didn't hear anything. Tiny TV: Small televisions are only an issue for small minds. I could continue, but am sure that a reasonable person would be able to extrapolate their own conclusions based on my analysis. My impressions: It was reminiscent of a stay in an exemplary inn in Edinburgh; The Inn is charming and classy; The staff were uniformly kind and courteous; The food in the restaurant was delicious; Everything was tidy and spotless; The room was darling; I will definitely be returning; Don't believe negative reviews written by the callow.

Friendly staff and quaint rooms. Perfect location for visiting the harbour front. No elevators so be prepared to carry bags up some stairs. Staff are accommodating and offer help with bags if needed.

Wonderful hotel. Very kind people. My wife and I stayed there for two nights and wish we had booked for longer. Centrally located and beautifully appointed.

Great little hotel. Very clean. Friendly staff. Restaurant on premises closing soon permanently. Lots of steep stairs. Cute courtyard.Breakfast should have choice of hot items. Good location. Unfortunately one person in our group had a mouse in his room and couldn’t change room because hotel was full that night. It can happen in an old building, we do understand, staff put. A mouse trap under the bed…. And the person slept fully dressed for the night. Not a good rest night for 245 $Not really the hotel fault I guess but it did left a weird feeling for the guest.

This is a nice alternative to a large hotel for its location by the waterfront. However, I would have liked to love this more. For the price point it wasn’t much. WiFi in our room was weak. We were on the top floor and had a sloped ceiling which made getting in and out of bed something you had to bend to do. Restaurant closed super early (8:30). No bar. Breakfast not included (only $10 but...) and very meh. It was nice, and friendly staff, but only boutique prices. Amenities were not there.

A perfectly built quaint boutique hotel situated at the best location in Halifax. Stayed here for two nights, had to cancel one night due to flight getting rescheduled and they elegantly refunded the night despite it being a last moment cancellation. The whole place is charming and the vibe is absolutely amazing. The rooms are cozy and the small library and the restaurant feel like a movie set from the 80's. Free parking is available just behind the hotel and everything is at a walkable distance. The staff is fabulous- very polite and courteous, always helping out with a smile.I will not go to any other place in Halifax when I visit again. Thank you Leila, Molly, Rachel for being the most gracious hosts to us.You will not be disappointed if you book here.
