Location was why we stayed here plus spotted so many Osprey in the area I would come back and stay just because of the birds!! Loved the old vibe feel of this place, felt like I was in Europe back in the 80's. We saw people painting the hallways & rooms during our one night stay. Enjoyed seeing the nature in the area especially the baby racoon outside our room. The rooms are seemed ok but the carpets are worn out and stained. The bed was comfy, the view was amazing & wifi worked great. The pool was very cold and not heated. We did swim in the pool since it was huge and you could dive in it. Whirlpools were closed. I love the 80's retro feel of the place, the old shower stalls in the pool room was so fun to see. Overall I would stay here again & can't wait to see more improvements

2nd Review from February 2023:Once again, I absolutely enjoyed my stay at this beautiful resort! ALL of the staff, from Front Desk, Management, Maintenance, the Restaurant and Housekeeping truly went above and beyond to make my stay so enjoyable! l loved my waterfront room and view! From my wonderful server, to the cook and kitchen staff, I was looking so forward to my steak dinner again this time around and you certainly didn't disappoint! Everything about my experience, and everyone involved, was truly the BEST!!This resort is still my new mini vacation getaway choice and I look forward to getting back in the summer and taking my daughter when she visits from out West!Thank you so much for caring about your customers while staying with you Lori, Faith, Brittany, Ana, Irene, Mike, Diane and Kate!! This place is definitely outdated BUT it's such a beautiful location. GREAT amenities and views. Nice indoor pool, private beach, free parking, room was overlooking Lake Simcoe. Staff was so friendly and helpful.

As some of the other reviews state, some of the rooms are quite dated, and there were some stains in the carpets - but let me be clear that this does not take away from the experience, unless you let it.Our room was not dirty at all, just aged. The bedding was clean (although, we only realised after that there was only a comforter with no top sheet) as was the bathroom. The hallways, public areas and restaurant were clean, comfortable and inviting. There is an obvious age to the building, but I think that adds to the atmosphere and ambiance. The grounds are beautiful, with enough area along the canals for both the ground floor waterside rooms, and the other guests to enjoy. There are lawn chairs everywhere to sit and enjoy the views and water, and chimineas (contained fire pits) so you can enjoy a fireside evening. We did not purchase any wood, but it is available at the front desk. One thing to note is because it is so close to the water, there can be a lot of flying insects. We weren't overrun, and didn't get a single bite but just be aware. As far as the other facilities, we only had a quick peek but the pool area was clean as was the pool itself, and there are canoes, kayaks and pedal boats available to rent for a small fee. We saw others taking part in the rentals, but as we were only there for one night we decided just to relax. In the evening, there is a beautiful sunset over Lake Simcoe that you can enjoy either from a waterside chair, or from the outside deck (patio) of the restaurant. The food at the restaurant smelled and looked fantastic, especially the muscles. We did not eat there, but talking to and listening to others around us there were nothing but fantastic comments. I had a simple bowl of (Kawartha) ice cream, and they brewed a fresh pot of decaf coffee for me.The staff were all absolutely fantastic. Starting with the front desk manager who, when my wife fell ill before our first reservation time, did not hesitate to let us rebook without penalty and told us that we'd likely have an even better time at the new time because the weather will be warmer and the chairs and kayaks etc would be out. We received this top rate service, and we had booked a discount rate through Expedia. They didn't care, a guest was a guest. On the day of our arrival, I called to confirm and they knew us by name already and we were told they had asked the cleaning staff to put a priority on our room. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by everyone we saw that worked there. The person at the front desk (I'm sorry I'm horrible with remembering names) was super friendly, and didn't even hesitate to look when we asked if there were any ground floor rooms (ground floor walks out to the water through sliding doors and has a small outdoor patio we wanted to sit at). When there were none, she apologized and the next time we saw her she had found one and offered it, at a modest rate increase. We had already settled into our room though, and decided not to take it.Everytime we passed by the front desk whoever was there would smile, or say hello, or ask if we needed anything. The only one piece of feedback Is give, and I apologize that I didn't give it when we were there, would be that the condition of the rooftop patio was disappointing. When my wife and I learned of it, we immediately wwnt to check it out as a potential reading spot and it is unfortunately very run down. Not unusable, but not set up in any way that makes it a pleasant place to sit. There were so many other things to do or places to sit that we didn't let it bother us.All in all for our one night stay, on our wedding anniversary, we were left with a feeling of being rested and having been treated like our small stay mattered just as much as anyone else staying there. We will definitely be back, and I have already recommended to friends to visit for all the positive aspects, and to simply ignore the rest as it honestly does not take away from the experience unless you let it.

This place has some serious flaws, but it is not without its charms. The building is old and in need of major improvement. However, I did find it quaint and romantic. The room was clean, and the bed was comfy with big poofy pillows. The view from the outdoor seating area is so nice. The private beach is spacious and sandy, although we didn't swim, we enjoyed a walk here. You can also rent bikes and paddle boats. The indoor pool was too cold for my husband, but it was just fine for me. It wasn't pleasant to see all the mold and dust in the pool area, though,(icky). Ventilation is obviously a problem throughout the building. There was a musty smell in the hallway and an even stronger one in the room when we checked in. I wasn't worried at first, I've fixed this before just by turning on the AC or airing out. Nothing worked, and by the second night, it was irritating me so much, I ended up buying Febreeze and spraying down the room and in the hall, too. By Saturday, this situation markedly improved, so I don't know if it was a ventilation problem that was finally fixed, or that extra fans were turned on for the weekend when there was more guests. I really would like to bring my kids here, but with asthma/allergy issues, I don't think I should.

Stayed there one night as an inpromptu trip with my boyfriend. Although a fun trip, not a great hotel. There wasn't really much to do around the area but once you find things its nice. We figured that unless you are stopping through from a boat trip and restocking or have family around the area you should not bother coming. But just incase that is not enough of a deterrent maybe continue reading. (Seriously you will thank me).To start... I honestly smelt skunk for like 20mins when we first got in the room. I truly believed the was one in the room while my boyfriend suggested it was a dead body (I hope he was joking). The hotel had one of those musty carpets that hides the dirt which also made the place smell old... after all, things were either broken or worn down as if they were installed decades ago. There was a spa (didnt try it but seemed over-priced), roof top patio"

Stayed there for a couple nights and absolutely loved it! The check in procuring was beyond easy and the staff were so nice. The room was clean and it was great that this place was dog friendly; the girls at the front desk gave my dog so much love and so many treats he couldn’t get enough. The puppers and I had a lake view room which was great because we were able to sit outside and enjoy the view of the boaters going back and forth. One of the nights I decided to check out the restaurant, and the food was absolutely amazing!! The Del Mari Pasta on the seafood part of the menu was to die for and it’s definite must if you’re going. The servers were on top of their game and made sure everything went to my liking! After all that food, we decided to take a walk along the side of the hotel near the rocks where we were to enjoy the view of Lake Simcoe. I will definitely be coming back to this place in the summer time!

The hotel from booking stage to checkout was a pleasing experience. My room was so nice with view to die for, if I needed information about anything all I did was call down to front desk and I got whatever I needed. The room was beautiful and clean and looked after everyday I was there. Bright and Beautiful tells a lot!!

the location is great but the hotel isnt that great. Honestly, i was okay with everything until the reception desk lady ripped us off for a pantoon boat ride. She charged us 300 dollar and it wasn't even the pontoon boat but a normal deck boat. I was shocked to find out that boat ride costed not more than 120 dollars. I dont mind paying 20-30% but 150% is crazy. When i confronted her she said all boats cost the same. This left a bad taste and i would never come back. her name is faith, what an irony, beware!
