Aveta Midwifery

Nicole and Dana are fantastic midwives. This was our first baby and they guided us through the 9 months and 6 weeks postpartum. Their research and evidenced based practice gave us the information we needed to make the best decisions for our family - and it always felt like I was the decision maker for my health and well being. They are caring and thoughtful individuals who are just great to talk to and spend time with. We are so glad to have picked midwives as our care practitioners but more specifically Aveta. From when we first found out we were expecting, to being there for the birth and walking us through and anticipating our needs during a pretty scary time to our postpartum home visits - we are so appreciative of everything they’ve done for us.

I had the most amazing experience with Aveta Midwifery. Honestly could not have done it without them. My labor did not go to plan at all, yet Nicole and Dana did everything in their power to support and guide me. Will love and appreciate them for the rest of my life for helping to bring my son into the world safely. Thank you

I can not recomend Aveta enough. My husband and I felt so supported by the whole team at Aveta and we are so pleased we chose them. Anytime I had questions or concerns there was someone I could contact via phone to put my mind at ease. I ended up having a c-section as my son was breech and I couldn't have done it without my midwife holding my hand! If you are wanting an extremely supportive and knowledgeable team to be with your through your pregnancy and birthing journey I recomend Aveta.

The team at Aveta are pros - I felt that I was in excellent hands all through pregnancy, birth and in recovery, with midwives whose judgement I could trust.They shared information readily, were meticulous, and I always felt empowered to make decisions. I enjoyed working with each midwife as each brought a slightly different perspective, while all maintained the same level of caring commitment to me and baby.Birth went very smoothly (thank you Dana, Nicole and the nursing staff at RCH !) and I’ve really liked their follow through to check up on the baby and I.I’m grateful to Dana, Nicole and Helen for everything they’ve done to make my son’s birth such a stress-free, relaxed and joyful event.

Absolutely loved our experience with Aveta from pregnancy to postpartum. Carly, Dana and Nicole are caring, knowledgable, and welcoming. Pregnancy, labour and the fourth trimester can be vulnerable times, and we always felt heard and loved. Thank you for the support and laughs!

I seriously cannot thank Nicole, Dana and Christina enough for the incredible support they showed me throughout my entire pregnancy journey. Every step of the way, they ensured I felt comfortable and capable of carrying out my pregnancy the way I wanted to. They were terrific at advocating for me and validating my feelings, opinions and values! I loved how empowered I felt throughout my journey and how hands on each of the midwives were in all of our interactions. This was my first pregnancy so there were a lot of unknowns on my end of things to expect and the kind of choices I was able to make. Nicole, Dana and Christina always educated me on all my options and truly encouraged me individualize my journey. I really appreciate all that they did for me and will definitely be going back to Aveta for all my future pregnancies!

I was so anxious and weary about having a midwife at the start, and boy, was I wrong. I started off with an OB who then referred me to Aveta. I'm so grateful that she did.I had lots of bumps in my journey, and Christina and Dana went above and beyond every step of the way. We loved them so much.

I had a very disappointing and stressful experience with Aveta Midwifery. I had my first appointment at 6 weeks and was excited to work with the practice, however, at an 8 week scan, it was identified that there was an issue with fetal growth and I found out I was likely having a miscarriage. From this point on, Aveta midwifery did not seem at all invested in my care, despite that this is part of their work. I had to call numerous times to get the results of blood work, and to ask about a letter for my employer. I then had to follow up three times to receive the letter. None of my calls to the office were returned. I had to eventually call the emergency line just to get a hold of someone after 3 days of waiting to hear from someone. I was then referred to an early loss clinic for scans, where due to complications I had to visit the clinic three times, with each time paperwork sent to Aveta about my continued issues with the pregnancy. Not only did they not return phone calls, they never once followed up with me about my continued pregnancy related issues despite the fact that I was still in their care. Yes, they were kind when I could get them on the phone, but I have never had medical professional fail so profoundly in their duty of care, especially those who claim to be a client-centres practice. I certainly would not choose to engage with their practice for a subsequent pregnancy, nor recommend them to someone else. No one should be treated like that, especially not a woman going through a loss.

We absolutely loved our time with Nicole, Dana and Carlie! It was our first baby with a difficult birth but we were supported perfectly from start to finish. Special thanks to Drew for always being a gentleman at reception. The midwives go above and beyond with their care including home visits and a 24/7 hotline. They are fantabulous!
