We booked a car months ago using our credit cards. Upon going to pick up the car our credit cards didn't work. They would not accept our debit cards and rudely told us they would not acept another form of payment suxh as cash or debit cards. Strangely enough our credit cards worked somewhere else. Its simple, their machine isn't working and they didn't seemed to be bothered in fixing the card reader. However I'm glad this happened as we rented another car somewhere else for the same amount of days (15 days) but 1000$ cheaper. My recommendation is not to use this place because they have super rude staff and unwilling to remedy the problem with their system. Read the other reviews. We are not unique experiencing the same problems as others. I wished we had checked the reviews before wasting our time ar National Car Rental. Also note, the guy wrote my credit card details. Why?

This would have been my third rental in a short time with National.After 2 good experiences, this one was a really shady one.I've always rented cars with both loss damage waver and road side assistance plus to avoid any additional charges and never before was I asked to be liable for the first 500$ of damage to the vehicle (this is actually against the contract presented on the national website).After reading all previous comments about unexpected charges and the strange demands made by the national employee I knew I was in for a scam and cancelled my rental.Avoid if possible, they will scam you.

Fast, efficient service with friendly staff. Be aware - they don't accept debit cards or cash deposits - you must have a credit card issued by a major bank.I had a wonderful Volkswagen Golf TSi automatic intermediate car: lots of get-up-and-go". The powerful engine must be awesome with manual transmission.I really liked the thumb rests on the steering wheel; kept my hands at 10 & 2 (I actually miss them).A full tank of petrol took me 525 kilometres (326 miles); to refuel to full $63 CDN. The vehicle handles somewhat sluggishly when low on fuel

I'm trying to contact customers service.To whom it may concern,On Friday, 03/03/2023 at 04:40 p.m., me and my husband rented a car (Hyundai Kona, white) with National at the Victoria Airport to return it to the other store located in the downtown (Victoria Downtown Courtney – 727 Courtney Street). We did not pay for the National insurance.Once we picked up the car at the airport, we noticed a cigarette smell inside and went back to switch cars, with no problems we did and received another vehicle (Hyundai Kona, plate MS230S, gray) the same model but a different colour. The lady on the counter told us that the car had interior damage on the trunk and some scratches, but nothing to worry about it, once we got the car we checked and there was nothing wrong with the vehicle.After 22 hours of using the car, to go to the supermarket and park in front of our Airbnb, we returned the vehicle to the location mentioned above and there the problem started. We did the common procedure to return it and during the inspection, they found a non-visible bump in the back of the car, on the trunk door, and a scratch on the driver’s door. We tried to talk about and explain that we stayed with the car for 22 hours and most of the time the car was parked in a safe space, but the rude and unpleasant lady at the counter told us that they did not care because the “bump” was not there and did not appear in any of inspections before.After 20 minutes of trying to understand what happened and explaining, they said was our fault and that we need to pay, also they asked the National on the airport to send them the old inspections and promised to send us by e-mail by the end of the day. We waited but nothing came, so we called them 2 times, only on Tuesday, March 7, we received the inspections by e-mail and all the inspections were poorly written and different from each other (find them attached).So we went back to the store, on 03/07/2023 around 3:30 p.m., to try to solve the problem, and explain that was a mistake and it could be made by their employees, also the bump is not visible so when we checked the car, we were not able to see it. But again, they treated us badly and the employee Jaylin said the scratch at the driver’s door was a mistake and the only thing was the bump on the trunk, that was our fault and there was nothing we could do about it. He also said they already send the car for repairs, and we need to wait to pay.It is visible from the reviews that they have on every website, such as Google Reviews, Yelp etc., this type of behaviour by the store is common and they try to blame customers for their mistakes. Also, they accused us of hitting the car and by the photos, it is possible to notice that the bump was not made by hitting the back of the car, it was a punctual bump, and the rest of the trunk door is perfect.After all this unpleasant treatment by the store and being accused of doing something noticeable that we didn’t do, we left the place feeling angry and we are trying to contact the company to solve the problem, due to the bad treatment, accusations we received and the poor customer service they provided.We hope to solve the situation in a friendly manner but if not possible we are going to find a lawyer to solve it.

Scammers! No wonder this rental has such poor reviews. They require employee id checks for employee contact rate, unable to pull an employer contract code themselves and then don't honor a reservation made ahead of time.It's clear that this franchise benefits from lack of competition especially in weekends and the main desk guy Jun was very condescending. As many reviews pointed out , the location insists that we purchase CDW and scrutinizes every corner for scratch when you brought backThey will have the most cars on the weekend in the island and there's a good reason why!

Renter beware. Do not rent from this location. Beyond terrible customer service. As other posters have mentioned, this location takes no responsibility for their actions or poor service and tries to blame the customer. The manager at this location did not listen or try to solve any issues. When asked to be escalated, he refused to provide a name for customer service and claimed that no one in the company is able to help customers besides him. I was shocked at his behavior. National Car rental customer service, please do a better job of listening to customer issues and hiring managers who can own mistakes and resolve issues productively. Other customers with issues, please report your concerns to the better business bureau.

Don’t rent from these scammers! Just like many reviewers before me have stated, they a very cursory walk around upon check out and then when a car is returned, they instantly go and an obscure spot in the car and find damage. I’m out case there was a scratch underneath the front left bumper that they claimed resulted from our driving. We didn’t park near any curbs or parking blocks during our rental and there is no possibility that this scratch would occur from us. The fact that the inspection clerk immediately looked there and pointed it out makes us wonder what kind of operation they are running there. Avoid these scammers at all cost unless you are willing to pay full collision insurance.

Same problem as the other review. Once we returned they claimed a spot on the car and a missing mat. They resolved it but had to go through some altercations.
