Edmonton's Food Bank

I picked up a food hamper from the salvation army castle downs church and half of my hamper was full of old and expired food that gave me food poisoning for 4 days...please in the future check the expiration dates of the food before giving it out to anyone...or they will end up getting very sick. You are supposed to be helping people not trying to kill them by giving them expired food.

Great place to give back to the community. They also have so many options and ways you can give directed specially to what the needs are.

Got help recently, 3 bags potatoes, few cans veggies, moldy bread, buns and 2 cakes expired with cream. Was very disappointed in what is supposed to help. Last time received expired warm milk, expired bread products. Not sure if I want to try again. Nothing of use, may as well not bother. No photos as expired items were tossed when we got home.

Felt customer service can be made more personal. sign for wearing face mask is on a swingable door vs positioned in visible sight on the entry window. was advised of the pickup number and was given a shrugged shoulder as in not my problem when a polite suggestion of better placement of mask signage .. i get better customer acknowledge at an empty walmart

We arrived at the food bank warehouse at 11508 120 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5G 2Y2 on Wednesday. We signed up for a friend named Sabri. And we said he needed food. but they didn't give food to our friend Sabri. Since we don't have a car, the canavua team brings us food. On Monday, June 26, the canavua team would bring food aid. But I was in the hospital that day. because i have heart disease. I tried to explain this situation to my friends working there. but they did not understand me. they told me: The Canavua team brought food to you on June 26. We can't give it from here. I said can we get food aid while we are here. but they did not give food. We can't come because we don't have a car. A friend brought us and I said give food aid while there is a car. they didn't. this is a very sad situation. If you ask your friends there, they will remember. We said it because we needed food. I also have documents that I was in the hospital on Monday, June 26th. I honestly told everything, but they did not give food. both to Sabri friend and to me and my husband. very very sad

I am very grateful for their kindness and generosity while I am going through these tough times.

This is third time got food bank from here I never get meat no riceThird time nothing at all no bread no meat I have two kids they put some chocolate candy and vegetables and canes that’s allBut the staff nice and polite people but food not goodAlso I have take two buses to get there I asked them many times to give me in my area keep saying ok but same never give my area

This resource is a joke. They need more funding and they need to apply for more grants because we should be able to call in and get a hamper that day, not weeks later. They need more for the people who utilize them because it’s such a disappointment calling in and there being “nothing available in your area.” Reach out to the government or something and advocate for more funding because this resource is needed but it’s severely lacking. Just look at the programs in the surrounding areas of Edmonton, Edmonton food bank is a literal joke compared to them.*They should put as much effort into pushing the government TO FUND THEM as much as they do at arguing back on reviews.*

Pathetic excuse for a helping hand. Thanks so much for the rotten broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower, the milk expiring in 2 days, the diebetes/cancer dunkaroos , the stale expired bread ,and few cans of cheap vegetable for 2 Adults. I would have had fresher food going to a restaurants dumpster! The time to get there and gas wasted could have been used elsewhere. This is the second time I've used it in 3 years ,and was similar last time. Just shut down. This isnt helping,. what a joke of an organization in a city this big. Absolutely pathetic. Yes I'm ungrateful, as this was just a slap in the face and waste of valuable resources. Where are the monetary donations going? You cant supply healthy fresh food? IM not asking for t-bone streaks and the best of the best, but dont get me to got there to pick up your rotten trash that belongs in a dumpster , cause thats where half of this box went. This organization needs to be investigated.
