Country Hill Farm

Kathy has been a friend of mine for over 30 years. After buying our first horses together, she went on to create one of the finest equestrian farms in the province. Excellent care and expert horsemanship.

I discovered Country Hill Farms over the internet while I recuperated from what I hoped would be the final of six surgeries on my hip. My goal was to return to recreational riding and I was researching the perfect fit for a facility while I rehabbed. My background in riding started from when I was 10 years old at summer camps but I was never very good at it. I returned to recreational riding on weekends several years ago to simply enjoy being in a farm atmosphere with nature. Riding (actually time in the saddle) was just part of the overall experience for me.What attracted me to Country Hill on the website alone was of course the beautiful facility with one indoor and two outdoor arenas, quarantine facility, very well kept stable etc. but also the tone of the entire site and Kathy's extensive experience and credentials in the industry. One specific item was Kathy's offering of 'ground training.' This was particularly important as it emphasized Kathy's commitment to teaching about just 'being around horses' and developing relationships with them. This versus offering trail rides (was not at all interested in simply trail rides, although they can be fun)I connected with Kathy and visited for a guided tour before I was actually cleared to ride again. It was clear to me this was the right place when I was ready.I have been riding at Country Hill weekly since May 2019 and provide this recommendation with 5 stars.Kathy commands the respect of her clients, students, boarders and horses through her confident but respectful and laid back demeanor offering the perfect blend of hospitality while she operates a complex environment requiring a keen eye for the safety for riders, spectators and livestock.I will leave it at this..if you are looking for a beautiful facility and are brand new to riding in your 40's 50', 60's or 70's, a young ambitious competitor, returning to an old passion or an already an expert, this facility will provide you with a gold standard experience.FYI I don't write many of these reviews and was not asked to write this by Kathy or anyone else.

I've had two perfect Rider Vacations at Country Hill Farm and plan to return for a third. Kathy personalizes the visit beautifully. Step by gentle step she got me back on the saddle despite deep seated fear. It stuck because I'm still riding in my home area three years later. I'm looking forward to booking a third trip this fall. The leaves will be amazing. I know the food will be too! This is a great place for a getaway. It's as serene or busy as you want it to be. I have only happy memories and look forward to making more.
