About the Business

Undergraduate teaching clinic | Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences - McGill University | Welcome to the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences' Undergraduate Teaching Clinic. We provide high quality, comprehensive care for about 50% the cost of a private office. Our patients receive excellent care, and in turn, our students gain skills to prepare them to become professional dentists. To reduce any risks associated with aerosol generating procedures, all such procedures are performed in closed rooms where we have installed HEPA filters, and staff have been supplied with the PPE necessary to work safely and to keep our patients safe. Become a patient The application form will open at the end of August 2023. Orthodontic treatment For orthodontic treatment, please call 514-398-5189. Dental emergencies If you have a dental emergency, you must seek care at the Montreal General Hospital (MGH). The Emergency clinic is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please call 514-934-8063 for any dental emergency. Patients are triaged and seen in order of priority. Waiting time is variable and based on the severity of the problem. - Priority #1: acute pain, swelling, bleeding or a recent injury - Priority #2: continuous “intense or moderate” pain in jaw, mouth or teeth - Priority #3: intermittent pain Please note that we do not repair broken dentures. Should you have an emergency after opening hours, please contact the MGH emergency department or proceed to its emergency department for triage prior to communication with an on-call dental resident. Screening visit All prospective patients must first attending a screening appointment prior to being accepted as new patients*. We are a teaching institution where patients are selected based on the requirements of our educational program. Patients with limited treatment needs (i.e. less than 4 fillings, no need for crowns, root canal treatment, denture, etc.) are not likely to be accepted for treatment in our clinic. This visit will take approximately 3 hours and will determine if your treatment needs are appropriate for our teaching clinic. Radiographs are normally taken at the screening appointment. If treatment needs are suitable for our teaching clinic your file will be assigned to a student dentist. If you have had radiographs taken in the past year, please indicate it on the forms. Digital radiographs can be included in the online form, or sent by email. Screening Fee The screening fee is not refundable, even if you are not accepted as a patient in the clinic.
