This place is pretty nice for being in the hood. The bar down stairs rocks with the locals. Hearthstone hotels is the motel 6 of the U.S. with better beds. Working here for months or the one in Sydney same stuff.Only thing that upset me is they advertise Free breakfast... And our travel agency thinks it's true. But never have I got Breakfast as advertise in room or on website. Bummer

The picture on this review pretty much sums up the hotel. This is the main staircase. Each step is giving out, and sags disconcertingly when you walk on them. So what they've done is installed random mismatched pieces of wood so that one broken saggy stair is supposed to provide support for another broken saggy stair.The room we received smelled like sweat and feet. The beds are ancient. The comforter was badly stained in several places. There's inadequate parking requiring guests to park at the nearby superstore. It's smack in the middle of some really sketchy apartments.The couple of people we interacted with behind the desk were nice and friendly, but that's the only good thing I have to say about the hotel. We won't be back.

I've stayed here several times when travelling for appointments. It is a great location regarding proximity to the bridge to Halifax. There is a grocery store across the street. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff seemed quite cranky. There is a restaurant and bar onsite. We didnt try the food but we had a good time having drinks at the bar.

Overall the rooms are decent and look better than the outside appearance. Feels like you're in the middle of an inner city littered with cigarette butts. Website advertised breakfast was included, but it wasn't. Staff were generally helpful but curt at times.

It's an old and tired hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They keep it quite clean. But it's been a while since a meaningful update.It's close to major routes so easy to get around Dartmouth.

It is a tired looking hotel and needs investment from the owners to bring it back to its former glory. The staff do their best and we had a comfortable stay. We would stay there again.

So with this spot it has alot of history. However, the service alot of the employees have pretty horrible attitudes. Ontop of the attitudes the building looks to be falling apart at the seams. My family stayed in room 101 and you had to bodyslam the door open and to close it when we told them we got oh ya we already know that." Like if it's known why isn't maitence fixing that?"

The hotel advertises free breakfast but that is not the case. There is a restaurant to purchase if you wish.The room had a weird smell but appeared clean, bed was comfortable. There is no plug in the washroom to do hair, shave, etc. Plug outside of washroom did not work.The service was subpar. The staff was vaguely friendly.The parking lot is tiny, if you do by chance get a parking spot it is a very tight fit, no room to pull up and go check in and bring luggage. IF THERE IS NO ROOM in the parking lot, you will have to park at superstore which is inconvenient when you have luggage, or children, etc.It is a very old and outdated hotel.The stairs are sketchy to say the least. elevator is very small, tight.

Lovely boutique hotel. Lots of character! Friendly staff. Pub with classic food at good prices. Modern touches, vintage vibe. Would definitely stay again!
