Dr. David & Jason Thompson, Optometrists

Been going to Dr. Thompsons for years. Yesterday though the customer service was wonderful and needs complimenting. I took my dads broken glasses in as he had just broken them, but lives in a Care facility due to Covid I can't get him out. The staff as always were friendly. They replaced the broken part and returned back to me with a new case and cleaner at no cost all in less than a hour.Thank you so much! Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

Almost certainly the best optician in town. Ive tried several but these folks are head and shoulders (and eyes! ) above the rest.No marketing BS - just great service. Prices are very reasonable and most importantly they stand behind their products. Doctors also highly skilled. Business as it should and used to be. Thanks to all of you!

Front staff are amazing to deal with and a true joy to see both Dr. Thompson's. Very thorough and patient. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a great eye exam experience.

I never thought I, a human of earth, would ever receive such a humbling experience at an eye exam.There is the nicest person that works reception, I don't know who they are but that person brightened my ENTIRE day ! Probably THE WHOLE WEEK! MAYBE THE ENTIRE YEAR ! Who knows. Anyways....Dr.Thompson is a dedicated man, who is very knowledgeable. I thought I didn't have any eye issues until he showed me what I was missing !Thank you for this experience!

Wow, great experience. Knowledgeable and took the time to share so much information about my eye disturbances and health. Really good pricing for new glasses too. #1 in Nanaimo. Dr. thompson was amazing and staff was friendly and attentive.

I came early for my appointment and they saw me right away. Dr Thompson was very nice and made good conversation. The girls at the desk were amazing and helped me get the most out of my benefits and got my glasses made for me in less than 20 minutes.

I take my son to this optometrist once per year; I'm a single mom and struggling financially, Dr Thompson always offers whatever he can without charging me if he can. I'm also covered by healthy kids so that helps, but even so I've had instances where I've brought my son in because he had what looked to be conjunctivitis and he didn't bill anybody he just gave us some advice and some samples of drops to relieve the discomfort and sent us on our way. This has happened multiple times. The staff are awesome the place is so clean they provide very clean bathroom and fresh hand towels. They really do treat you pretty good here and I would actually look forward to going to the optometrist.

My boys and I have been going to Dr. Thompson for years. I have an appointment every two years. Their admin staff contacted me to see if we could fill a cancellation spot for today a month before our planned appointment. I thought great because it was a saturday and we all work and go to school so this is better than a weekday appointment. After my exam I had to discuss increasing my eyeglass prescription only to find out they hadn’t checked if changing my appointment to a month earlier if I would still be covered. Needless to say they did not offer any way to rectify the situation and I had to pay $150 out of pocket when i have a plan that fully covers my eye exams had they checked before asking me to change my appointment date. Really disappointed in the poor customer service and would only consider going back if they cover they reimburse for the exam.

AWFUL experience coming here. I was told my astigmatism went away and that my eyes went up two full points (which had never happened in the past). They had me come in for a retest in which my prescription changed to about half the amount of what they initially told me. The staff was also very unkind upon my arrival and how they handled the retest. There was no consistency or confidence coming here. I decided to go elsewhere and pay for another eye exam. I found a very informative, reputable Optometrist who made me feel great about the whole appointment. I was told I do in fact still have astigmatism and that's not something that disappears without significant injury. I do not recommend wasting your time at Dr. Thompson's office.

I would never go here again. Went in with something in my eye (similar to a grain of sand). I was told whatever is in my eye is gone, and the pain is from the scratching it did on my eye. I responded: but the pain is moving around. Response: nerve pain, it spreads. Me: so you're 100% sure there is nothing in my eye? Response: yes. When I got home from work after 5 1/2 hours of pain, I found the grain under my eyelid and swiped it out with a cotton swab. Never, ever, would I go back or recommend.
