Newburgh Academy
A historical landmark of Newburgh. Originally built in late 1839, it was rebuilt in 1853 to meet the growing demand for its prestigious education as Newburgh Academy was one of the most highly regarded early learning institutions. The interior and much of the structure was rebuilt in 1872 following a devastating fire, a large gable was the only design change from the original. The new construction stood strong for the following century. Between 1971 and 1975 it was revitalized into a 4 unit condominium which is how it stands today. While it is a private property which should not be trespassed, admiring it's 19th century architecture while reminiscing on its glory days is something anyone crossing through Newburgh should consider.
