Riverdale Immigrant Women's Centre

I recently observed an employee of this centre threatening the life of a person who didn’t want to wear a pride jersey for an NHL warmup game. The employees response was “someone with some spare ammunition should empty off a few shells into this corpse”.I reported it to the centre as that mentality is clearly unsafe especially when dealing with persons who may have been subject to violence. The centres response was that they thought it was perfectly acceptable and applauded the employee for saying it.

I came here for counseling service 2 years ago, and my counselor was amazing. She supported me through my most difficult time until I connected with another long-term trauma counselor at Women's College Hospital. Later on I would like to connect with my counselor, I heard that she left her job and went somewhere else.I felt bad about seeing the negative review here since the staff here has been eager to help out clients.However, I heard from a friend who was a volunteer here about this place. She told me to stay away from here if you would like to be a staff or volunteer since it is not a good environment to work there. They really need a new leadership or the staff turnover rate is very high. Nevertheless, the staff here are very friendly and professional. For staff, I would give 5 stars. I took away 2 stars due to some other issues in this agency.
