Long Point National Wildlife Area
Despite all the silly reviews below, the majority of the Long Point National Wildlife Area (The Long Point Unit, where this pin is dropped) is permanently closed to visitors in order to protect the wildlife and its habitat. It is patrolled by rangers on ATVs, and equipped with motion sensors and other technology to detect intruders. If you do intrude, whether on the beach or inland, you can expect to be accosted and told to leave by rangers. You may also be charged with an offence, especially if you show any reluctance to depart immediately.Presumably the reviewers were trying to describe their experiences at Long Point Provincial Park to the west.As stated on the LPNWA website, the Thoroughfare Point Unit, between the Park and the Long Point Company's property, is open from mid-April to mid-September for quiet recreation" such as beach walking and canoeing."

The limited access to the long point because of property is a shame but the place is beautiful and I will come back for sure.

Long Point is amazing. I grew up near long point and I live several hours away but I still love going to the bay to do some great fishing.

Walking East on the beach from within Long Point Provincial park you will come to this scary looking fence, it belongs to the Long Point Company. Did some research on the company and there is a lot of history on this piece of land that dates back to 1860's where a group of Canadian businessmen from Hamilton and St. Catharines bought this land and used it as a hunters paradise and for other reasons.

Very nice spot with this unique feeling to be entirely surrounded by water and nature as if you were on an island. The beach nearby is a great place to relax
