This experience was so embarrassing gumiliating and disgusting. We picked up our dog and was guven permission to leave with him to be later told bt police we pushes our way out of the building when there was already a police officer standing in the lobby. Why couldnt rhey have talked to that officer ren n there.

Filled out an application as I waited for the spca to get a kitten we were interested in meeting. They set up a time, within an hour of meeting our kitten, we were leaving with him. Very friendly and efficient staff and experience.

We had a great experience. We have just adopted Thor (formerly Edward), a Mastiff mix. He is a gorgeous big boy.The staff was exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a fur baby to add to their family, to go to the Saskatoon SPCA. They have a lot of love waiting in cages and kennels for their forever home

I will, unfortunately, never support the Saskatoon SPCA again after our latest experience. We found a puppy wandering a rural road near out home so my husband brought it home. We drove around to all the farm sites in our area, took it to the vet to have a microchip scan, and posted on Facebook Lost Pets, as it was over a holiday weekend. In this time we had become attached but wanted to make sure we tried our best to find the owner so we took her to the SPCA. I wish we had known at the time we can report a lost dog without having to take them in. We were told we could have updates and could see her, but then when we called we were told that is not allowed and updates are not given unless they are up for adoption. Fine, those are the rules. We both expressed interest in adopting the dog multiple times both by email and phone, even filled out an application twice (once before she was available, once while she was available). She went up for adoption and came back down 3 hours later. I had spoken to an adoption counselor 2 hours prior and she didn't even tell me she was going up on the site. Despite being an excellent country home with plenty of space where we already knew she fit in perfectly, got along with our other dog, and had already opened up and showed us her true bubbly personality, the SPCA adopted her elsewhere. Basically they are encouraging people to steal dogs they find so they aren't taken away, instead of doing the right thing and trying to find the owner. We are both devastated to not have gotten her back, as we even had a name picked out and had made a list of supplies we needed for a large breed dog. After a terrible handling of this adoption I will recommend to everyone AGAINST dealing with the Saskatoon SPCA. There are plenty of reputable, no-kill organizations in the province.

What a wonderful thing these people are doing over here ! I was there after a long time , over a year due to the corona restrictions and all! And they were so busy that everyone was delaying lunch just so that they could help those animals in need !Claps for them and respect too !Thanks for doing this noble job!

They would rather leave your animal in pure distress while they take they're time doing paperwork then allow you to bring them out or have a family member sit with them. And then while you're in distress about your family member being in distress the front staff will threaten to not let them out. Seriously need some public service training. You deal with people who are upset about their missing family member, and your best response is to try and escalate the situation instead of de-escalation or compassion.Staff member I dealt with had very poor service skills, showed zero caring or empathy. I got to see my family member with bloody paws, drenched in sweat and in pure distress. All it would have taken is for one of us to sit with her or her to be with us while the paper work was being done.I will never support or donate to this place again. Unbelievably poor treatment.

I adopted a beautiful 1-year old tortoise shell cat from the SPCA 3 years ago. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. They made the adoption process very easy and l so happy to have this amazing cat for my fur-ever buddy.

Can't say enough about this place, I have now adopted twice from here, most recently we picked up this smart little charmer who we named Harley. He is extremely happy to be with us and is keeping us on our toes! Someone really missed out on a fantastic dog with this one, looking forward to the next decade with this guy! Staff was superb as always, extremely helpful and friendly! We took Harley for his checkup that's included in the adoption fee and he's been given a perfect bill of health! Harley gained 3 pounds with us in the first week (he just may be a bit spoiled lol) The SPCA does incredible things, donate and adopt and keep this fantastic service running!

My boyfriend and I adopted our first dog back in April. It was a very spur-of-the-moment decision, but we knew we needed a little addition to the family to make it complete. We decided to adopt rather than purchase from a breeder, so our first choice was to visit the Saskatoon SPCA. They have a big open playground for the dogs to run around in, and they encourage playtime and activity with all of the dogs that are up for adoption. However, the staff seems a little disinterested and robotic around the animals. The day we were approved to adopt, a staff member brought out the wrong dog, and introduced him as the one we had come to take home. We knew immediately it was the wrong one, but the employee seemed a little clueless and confused. We had to explain what the dog looked like, which made us feel a little awkward, and as if we were disappointing the dog they had brought out to us. While we understand that animal shelters have a high turnover of dogs, we believe the staff should have, at minimum, basic knowledge to differentiate between the different animals that come and go. We appreciate that this organization is doing a good deed for these animals, but it would be nice to see a few more beds or pillows in each of these stalls. It would also be comforting to witness the staff more emotionally engaged towards the dogs that are continuously wailing after their surgeries and trapped in an uncomfortable environment with restricted contact from the public. We met our dog during our first trip to the SPCA shelter - a border collie and retriever mix - and within one application we were approved to adopt. While we feel like this was a stroke of good fortune for us, it did concern us a little bit that some dogs may be sent home with owners that have not had their background adequately checked.Overall, we feel this organization is doing its due diligence by providing something for these animals that otherwise would have nothing. As a side note, we regularly check up on Saskatoon’s SPCA website and have noticed that the cats do not have as high of a turnover rate compared to dogs. If you are capable and wish to take home a kitty, please consider SPCA; these animals need the help and love. In the meantime, feel free to adore our attached before-and-after pictures of our adopted dog!
