My first time to the Mission and it turned out to be a 2 hour journey to the past led by a local guide Mr. Ladoceur who had personal connections to this place. Funny and sad stories. My husband discovered pictures of an ancestor - Prudens. Such a vast history and timeline that spoke about the importance of the Metis, FN cultures, the dominance of the Catholic Church and the prevailing spirit of the voyageur and pioneer spirit. Take the tour, one will only get half the story and access to buildings if one wanders on their own.

I have been going to/lived in Lac La Biche for most of life and I finally made it to the LLB Mission last summer (Aug 2019). It is an historical site maintained mainly by a dedicated group of volunteers.Take a tour and you will be lead through many buildings and learn about what life was like at the mission and the role the mission played in the settlement and establishment of the town of Lac La Biche. If you have roots in Lac La Biche and want to learn more, they have an excellent genealogy and many old photographs. The gift shop is awesome as well.

Went here for a tour (the longer version) and it was an experience. The grounds has numerous old buildings/museums that have been maintained quite well. I learned a lot about the history of residential schools in the Lac la Biche area. In the main building they even have a small gift shop and icecream to stay refreshed on hot days.

Take a stroll through history. Lac la Biche is the second oldest community in Alberta and easily accessible by roads. Canada Day kicks off the summer with entertainment, an art show and activities, rain or shine. Fireworks follow at the waterfront in Lac la Biche.

Take advantage of the walking tour. The displays are well set up that give you a glimpse of the boarding residential school of the early 1900s. The guide needs to learn more about the background of these schools and the life back then. She relied on her notes constantly but otherwise did a pretty good job of explaining the various sites. There is actually alot of stuff there.
