Halifax Explosion Memorial Bell Tower
A Grand tribute to a solemn event. The Bells are supposed to ring hourly but I couldn't hear them throughout the city. Despite being locating in the HydroStone District on Fort Needham Hill, one of the highest points in Halifax, the trees have, unfortunately, grown quite high which limits the views from the memorial. It is recommended to visit the lightshow at Dusk! There is plenty available in the area, such as public washrooms and an off-leash dog park. Nearby is the Africville museum and Fairview Cemetary with Halifax Harbour explosion victims and Titanic voyager graves.

The Bell Memorial Tower monument for the Halifax Explosion is beautiful and impressive. The entire city of Halifax was destroyed in the blast of the two ships in 1918 and this area of Halifax was hit especially hard, being the nearest to this ships’ collision. The bells chime on the anniversary and it is beautiful. Located inside Needham Pak, it is one of the things that makes this park so special.

It is somber to stand in front of the memorial and realize the scale dand impact of the disaster and the number of lives lost to this tragic accident. I only wish there was more information provided surrounding the event and other relevant information. I was at the Citadel earlier and so learned more about this disaster there than I did at this monument. It's part of a park so unless you plan to have a picnic or spend some time there, you won't need more than 15 minutes....

An interesting place to visit located between the Mackay and McDonald bridges. Lots of writing along the walkway through the park describing the Halifax Explosion occurrence and aftermath. I recommend a visit for a nice walk.

Great open park with several structures, erected in 1985, to commemorate the 1917 explosion. There's plenty of stairs to get to it from the parking lot; or you can take a steeper hike from the north.

The tower is in a very nice place to go for a walk, take your dog, or play sports. It has a few access points and a small parking lot. But street parking is also available within couple minutes. The park is in the heart of the city and is surrounded by lots of houses and streets.
