Always going here for my Sunday masses. Our priest is very amiable and sound in his calling. Time conscious but never really in a hurry - takes time to give his sunday sermon using vivid scenarios & easy-to-relate-to examples. The church caters to the family's spiritual needs with great couples and entire families programs. My kids love the sunday moral instructions that run concurrently with the 12 noon mass run by a highly dedicated reverend sister; also, the weekly catechism on Wed/Thurs.

For starters... if you're basing whether or not to attend a specific Catholic parish by its Google reviews, you should know exactly what you're looking for. Other reviews have cited displeasure with a specific priest or with Catholicism in general. The priest referenced is long gone, and if you have a problem with Catholicism then I must wonder why are you considering a Catholic parish at all.Full disclosure: I've been a parishioner here for nearly ten years. I am Catholic by free and open choice, not by family tradition (long story, which I won't get into here). I practice joyful, genuine Catholicism and form my life according to the teachings of the Church (even the hard ones). I attend Holy Cross because it is a hub for people of a similar mindset, plus it is a convenient location with convenient Mass times, and the community is warm and welcoming. If you're looking for a Catholic parish to call home, here's what you should know about Holy Cross:-At time of writing, it has 4 Sunday Masses: Sat 5pm (sometimes music), Sun 7:50am (usually no music), Sun 10am (traditional CBW style music led by the same music team) and Sun 12 noon (praise & worship music led by rotating music teams). A potluck brunch follows the noon Mass, and all are welcome to attend that.-During the school year there is usually a children's liturgy to occupy your young ones during the first half of Sunday Mass (10am and 12 noon)-Daily Masses at 7:50am-Since 2008 it has had a perpetual adoration chapel, so worshippers from around the city can access the Blessed Sacrament to pray.-Full suite of weekday ministries, including Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, youth group, food bank, RCIA, prayer meetings, and various seasonal devotions-Wheelchair accessible from the east entrance-Affiliated with Holy Cross School (preK-8) down the streetMy only complaint about Holy Cross is that we seem to have had a run of bad luck with pastors. We lost a beloved one to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis a few years back, and during his decline and after his passing we went through a series of immigrant substitute priests who have struggled both in language and in culture. Most recently we have had a well-loved priest unassigned because of his personal struggles with addiction (he was open about it) which impeded his ability to shepherd us. If I were Catholic because of the qualities of one specific priest, I'd feel quite disenfranchised by now. But I'm Catholic because of Jesus, and I have faith that he is leading Holy Cross in the direction he wants it to go for his own purposes. If you want to join us on that journey of discovery, you are more than welcome.

Why does Jesus call upon his disciples to take up their cross?By calling his disciples to take up their cross and follow him Jesus desires to associate with his redeeming sacrifice those who are to be its first beneficiaries.CCC #618
