Richard was so helpful with my mother's estate jewellery. On my request he expertly removed 4 gold nuggets from a rather 'gaudy' early 1970's ring to share among the 4 siblings. He gave me solid advice on a vintage watch which he had taken to a watch smith for their evaluation at no charge. Thank you Richard, we will be taking it to Sotheby's in Toronto. He went out of his way to ensure I knew what was in my possession. If the jewellery you have is not valuable he will tell you. I appreciated his honestly and directness, he knows his trade, is an expert in his field and you can trust him. I did with a valuable gold watch.

Had my 25th anniversary rings done at Richards Goldsmithing. Turned out absolutely stunning. My wife loves them. Professional work done to spec. This isn't the first time I have dealt with Richard. Have returned for other rings, and earrings as well. Will return in the future. Richard is up front and honest with regards to current market values on precious stones, and gold. Very knowledgeable.

I have used Richard's service many times and I've always been very pleased. He has repaired claws and re-sized my rings and was more than fair in his pricing. He tells it like it is. Is he honest? Yes! He's not going to tell you it's worth a lot if it isn't. So expect the truth! And why would we want anything less? He's good at what he does. Twice I took my aging Mom in to have him repair her ring, and then re-size it. He wouldn't even take her money for fixing it.... Saying how can I take an old lady's money?" She was beyond thrilled... Very Rude. I had called to make an appointment as I had some ‘old’ jewelry left to me from relatives and wanted to know it’s value. I very clearly explained that i had two jewelry boxes and looking for his expertise to distinguish what was worth anything, etc. I was more than willing to pay him for his time, or work with him to perhaps deal with him in selling anything worthwhile. He was very pleasant on the phone and said ‘yes, that’s what I do and I’d be happy to take a look for you’. We arranged to meet the next day at 10:00 at his shop. When I arrived at 10, there was a note on the door saying ‘back at 10:30’. Ok, I waited. When he arrived, I had to explain who I was, and why I was there. He took one look at the 2 boxes and said he was very busy with customers, and wouldn’t have time to sit with me. He said that if I wanted to leave it with him, he would sort it and call me in a few days. I told him that I wasn’t comfortable with that and I’d like to sit with him as he looked at it....could we set another appointment? He ordered me out of his store as I had just insulted him!! Told me that he had 30 years in the business and it was built on trust and he couldn’t believe I had just insulted him. I told him that I was truly sorry he felt insulted, and that wasn’t my intent at all. He told me there was no way he could work with me now that he knew he wasn’t trusted and told me to leave. I was shocked, to say the least. Very unpleasant experience. I have since worked with another local jeweller and was very impressed with their level of customer service and professionalism.

I was extremely pleased with Richard Goldsmithing. He was very honest with me about my quest to put two rings together that both hold great sentimental value. He gave me a suggestion and we went with that. I now have a ring that probably no one else would ever buy but to me it means everything and when I look at it every day it brings good memories back to me. Richards pricing was also very fair. I would recommend Richards Goldsmith and I will go back to him again.

Really disappointing experience. My grandmother got me a ring from him years ago and I lost it recently. I went back hoping he'd be able to provide me with the exact replica again. I specified that I wanted it to look exactly like the original ring and even brought in my cousins ring that was exactly like mine. He ended up custom making a ring that was close but definitely not exact. The diamonds were smaller, the face was flatter and had much more metal than the original. I was very disappointed. First, he threw my diamond necklace, from People's jewellers, in the garbage, telling me it was worthless! I traded some very expensive earrings for a cheap engagement ring and plain wedding ring. When I tried to talk him into better rings he kept telling me that I was wasting his time.He was recommended by a friend. Never again. I was totally ripped off!!
