Burns Manor Special Care Home
I'm writing this review to shed light on the current management and staff conduct at this care home. My brother, who is on the autism spectrum, has faced a series of distressing encounters that have been extremely detrimental to his wellbeing.Under the previous responsibke, Mike, the home was characterized by empathy, care, and understanding. The environment was nurturing, respectful, and catered to individual needs.Regrettably, since Jennifer took the lead, the environment has drastically changed for the worse. Her management practices and behavior have been questionable and very concerning. She has been using the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to confine residents to their rooms, which is not only isolating but also in violation of their rights. Moreover, Jennifer's interaction with the residents is far from the expected professional and compassionate demeanor. She has made threats, creating an environment of fear and intimidation. This is unacceptable, especially in a place that should be a safe and caring home for its residents. The staff, following Jennifer's lead, have also been engaging in disrespectful behavior. They have been belittling residents, including my brother, by making fun of them. Such actions are deeply hurtful and demonstrate a lack of respect and understanding of their responsibility to these individuals. This home is meant to be a sanctuary for people like my brother, not a place where they are subjected to ridicule and ill-treatment. I implore anyone considering this home for their loved ones to reconsider. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes immediate changes for the better.A caring and supportive environment is critical for all individuals, especially those on the autism spectrum. It is my sincere hope that future residents will be treated with the respect, dignity, and care they deserve.
