Chowder House
We were driving the Cabot Trail and stopped for lunch at the Chowder House. We had dined there before and the three of us were looking forward to lunch.Order was taken quickly and food arrived soon after. Chowder for Linda, Scallops and fries for Cheryl, and a Snow Crab Sandwich for this author.Food was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this stop to fellow travellers

I almost missed out on this experience because there was construction going on and I was unsure of proceeding up the road. They need to repaint their sign by the lighthouse. I Came in the fog to get their chowder. They have outstanding chowder and food. Get the seafood chowder! Theirs is the real deal! Great biscuits! Friendly Take the turn! Many RVs parking there. A ample lot to turn around. Snap a photo of the lighthouse too!

I like the soup so much. When the cold wind outside in June, the chowder soup made me reborn.Btw, their menu is upgraded these days. Pls see my attachment. Some goods' price is uper than before, just a little bit, it is Ok.Service is Ok, no complains, nice food, quick response, clean place.

Lobster rolls were fantastic! Best out of three places in Cape Breton I tried. Better portion size compared to elsewhere too. Lobster is chilled/cold which I prefer instead of warm (another place). Sweet potato fries were tasty as well. Nice views by the ocean too

On a cold day, driving in wet conditions, we decided to go off the main road and into Neil’s Harbour. To get a picture of the wavy ocean, we drove towards the lighthouse and we’re treated with the sight of this hidden gem.Hot chowder and steamed mussels on a cold day? YES PLEASE!Incredibly done, the soup was amazing and the mussels were perfect.The only tip to the owner, which won’t cost you a rating, was the temperature. For a cold day it was pretty cold in the dining room. At the end of a quiet day, I also do get it.

This place was very disappointing. The lobster on my lobster roll was rubbery and tasted like it had been previously frozen. There was not enough mayonnaise on the sandwich. My partners fried scallops looked and tasted like they were purchased at Sobeys.Adjacent to the restaurant, there is an old lighthouse that has been converted to an ice cream shop. Their pup-cup was too big for my two small dogs but were garnished with milkbone pieces.

The place has a great view of the ocean and the lighthouse. Make sure you bring a windbreaker if you're eating outside.The service is exceptional!! Very friendly, cheerful, helpful people!We really loved the seafood chowder. The fries were really good too. We came back the next day because the seafood chowder was great!Lobster roll and lobster we didn't care much for but it's not bad.Cleanliness could be improved but not bad either, probably because they are very very busy from opening to closing.Plenty of parking.They are very busy and it seems like food is made as you order them so be prepared to wait in line and wait for the food but it's worth it!It is worth coming here. Will definitely come back!

This place is indeed a hidden gem at Neils Harbor! We almost missed it if not for a very small signage hung on the fence close to the lighthouse when driving in. Before even getting into the restaurant, our eyes were caught by the spectacular tides, rocks and seawater surrounding it - simply breathtaking. Their lobster roll is really really good! Had a couple of Dirty Blonde to wash down the food - pretty decent local beer. Wow the view!

The food was fabulous. The people courteous. The view amazing.Dine in the building or take it to go on the outdoor tables (so much better).
