The Marmalade Motel

We just wanted to get away and unwind. The Marmalade Motel did not disappoint. Our stay was peaceful. The hot tub was relaxing. When we arrived we had the charcuterie board which was fresh and amazing. The next morning we enjoyed the breakfast. It was abundant and had everything that one would want while relaxing looking out at the ocean view on a cold March morning.

We stayed here 24 years ago on our honeymoon when it was The Port Dufferin Inn, so we thought we would stay again when we were in the area this time around. It was equally memorable and this time fully updated! Clean, quite, with a gorgeous view, and it looks as though they are in the process of making more great improvements! If it wasn’t raining we would have loved to take advantage of the seaside fire pit! We will be back,

Until the last couple of years, I hadn’t spent much time on the Eastern Shore. I saw media on the Marmalade motel & knew I had to visit. I have now been there several times and always love it. The owners are so sweet & helpful. The property is gorgeous & the rooms are adorable. I always have a wonderful sleep in their comfy beds. Love waking up near the ocean - especially with a breakfast in bed!

Myself and 2 girlfriends decided to get out of the city for a little getaway and it did not disappoint. As soon as we arrived we stopped in for a coffee at the little cafe and was greeted by a very welcoming young lady whom happened to be one of the daughters of the owners of the motel.Thanks (Zoey)Very friendly and told us a little about the area. When we arrived, the rooms were amazing and uniquely designed and very clean. We ordered the food offered which was a charcuterie board and breakfast boxes, they were both delicious. Our host were awesome and very knowledgeable in the area and very accommodating. I see great things in this developing part of the eastern shore and look forward to what’s to come.Thanks for the adventure

I had been following The Marmelade Motel on Instagram and when I was planning a surprise birthday get-away for my husband, it turned out to be the perfect spot.We loved our room (#1 Under The Sun). King bed was super comfy.I pre-ordered the charcuterie box & breakfast. All I had to bring was a b’day cake and wine - made my prep so easy! Highly recommend the add-ons (very good value & so convenient).NB: the units are not air-conditioned … it was actually quite nice not to hear the drone of a/c units. All we did was open the front window & patio door and got a lovely breeze. We stayed July 5th and were completely comfortable.Highly enjoyed our stay!

We spent 2 fantastic nights at the Marmalade Motel. It’s ideally located for the hiking trails at Taylor Head Provincial park.Our room had a very comfortable super king bed and like the other rooms, enjoyed fabulous views over Port Dufferin.Cheryl and Neil are a lovely couple and it is clear they care about their guests.I would highly recommend The Marmalade Motel to others travelling in this part of Nova Scotia.

Pulled in late on a rainy night, expecting a double bed since everything within 2 hours only had a double bed and got a new memory foam(?) California QUEEN.with a tub, instead of the usual shower. Patio door open part way listening to it rain hearing the odd wave hit the rocks in the distance below made for some much needed sound sleep. Sadly the fridge had no booze in it, or I would have paid the extra price and relaxed with a beverage, like I said a long rainy day of travel through heavy rain, fog into the night. They offer breakfast delivery, a very nice touch.Keyless entry(yay, never even seen anyone to check in. just showed up and went to room#with a code) and wifi that works perfectly. Kirkland coffee pods in room, freshly redone room.A very pleasant surprise and stay.Wake up to birds, boats and waves on the water

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Marmalade Motel, and it was an absolute delight. From the exceptionally comfortable bed to the warm hospitality of the owner and management, my experience was nothing short of wonderful.The rooms at the Marmalade Motel were impeccably clean, reflecting the attention to detail and care put into maintaining the space. The comfortable bed provided a restful night's sleep, ensuring that I woke up refreshed and ready to take on the day.What truly stood out during my stay was the genuine kindness and friendliness of the owner and management. From check-in to check-out, they went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met and that I felt welcome. Their exceptional service left a lasting impression on me.While I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Marmalade Motel, it would be remiss of me not to mention that the room could have benefited from a blackout blind. Nonetheless, this minor inconvenience did not overshadow the overall positive experience I had.In summary, I highly recommend the Marmalade Motel for a wonderful stay. With comfortable beds, spotless rooms, and exceptional hospitality, it offers a memorable experience that is sure to leave you with fond memories. I look forward to returning in the future.

Room fine and owner very welcoming. Reading the other reviews I'm surprised about the food/cafe comments. We were not made aware of any food/breakfast options.If you don't mind being woken at 8am by the digger 10 metres outside the back door this is the place for you. However your wake up will be slightly earlier than that as the work men arrive and have a chat and giggle outside your front door!A heads up from the owner would have been nice and obviously would have been the decent/ honest thing to do. This work looks like a long term project!!!!

Looking for something different with a great view of the water for a night during a tour of Nova Scotia and found this gem on Google. Glad we did. An old fashioned motel with a fresh attitude. Took a short walk to the property’s pier and spent over a half hour watching a seal hunt it’s fish dinner and a large moon jellyfish drift by while listening to the loons in the drizzling rain. The fog rolled in and took away our view but the quiet water sounds and loon calls made for a relaxing evening soundtrack. After a comfortable sleep in a great bed we had a delightful breakfast in bed delivered (order online at time of booking). I can imagine this place is gorgeous when the weather truly cooperates.While there is a construction project starting up (July ‘23) to add a small restaurant with a big deck, the owners appear to be trying to work with construction crews to be mindful it’s an operational hotel where people in fact come to sleep. This addition should serve this little place well.Thanks for a nice quick stay.
