We live in the area and have been frequenting this place for a couple years. It's had consistently good food and good service. However, today I ordered take out 1.5 hours in advance of pickup, and when I arrived at the scheduled pickup time, they said they were running 10-15min late. After waiting 20 minutes in the restaurant with no update I politely asked about my order, but got no response. Then when I got my food 25 min after arriving at the restaurant and asked why it took so long, I was given attitude by the guy working front of house. Very poor customer service and because of it I will think twice before going back.The manager at least phoned me later that evening to explain and apologize, and offer a discount on a future order. It was appreciated, but still disappointed with the experience.

Well, this place is very unassuming when you walk in the food there is outstanding. I ordered a war wanton soup and it is one of the best I've had in the city chocked full of veggies of every kind full of wanton's they do not scrimp on it. I highly recommend calling them directly and placing the order directly. And supporting this business away from the delivery companies.

I originally came from Mississauga, Ontario province, recently arrived in Calgary on May 22, 2023 around 8:00 pm Mountain standard time by car. My wife and I were hungry on the way to Calgary on road. My wife looked Chinese restaurant by online and found Sun Island eatery. Sun island eatery has offered pick up good deal discount when I spend money between $80 - $96 for few orders. The taste of food is absolutely delicious. I just realized when my wife ordered shrimp egg foo yong and we got shrimp chop suey vegetable. I totally understood and tolerate that they gave a wrong food order when they packed my food. Next day, I came back to tell the truth that I got wrong food order. Flora , the owner, was very nice and politely apologize and giving a half price discount for next shrimp egg foo yoong. I keep coming back to buy food three times a week because the taste of food delicious and acceptable for all people's taste in general. Overall , the taste of foods are delicious. This is my personal honest and truth review.

The food and portions are excellent! Best Chinese restaurant in Calgary by far! Highly recommend! The owners are also super friendly and offer great service.

The food and service was outstanding. We loved the ginger beef and especially the Sun Island Style Chicken, full of amazing flavors. Flora was an excellent host, kind and attentive. The kids ate well and we will definitely come back again!

We feel so fortunate to have this amazinging restaurant within walking distance of our home. The food is amazing, the service excellent and management attentive. Eating in is a treat! The food comes out hot, fresh and plentiful. We highly recommend this establishment for eat in or take out.

I was looking for a good place to order food from and based on the reviews I tried Sun Island Eatery. I am so glad I did, the food was excellent. The best I have ever had. I picked it up and with the discount it was very reasonable as well. I will definitely be ordering from this eatery many times in the future. Thank you for a great dinner.

BEST CHINESE FOOD IN THE CITY!The employees and owners are all very nice! Super cheerful and friendly. The food is excellent! and they take their celiac customers very seriously. If you ask for gluten-free, they do an excellent job at making sure that your order is free of gluent and even put the non gluten-free items (such as soy sauce and fortune cookies) in a separately labeled bag!
