Better Earth Gardens Kelowna

Wow, I’ve never been treated so badly by customer service as I was today. I purchased 3 small items and after I got to my vehicle I realized I was charged about $12 too much.Long story short, a staff member had told me a price of 5.99 on an item that was actually $15 (red chick). I immediately went back in and explained what happened and that I didn’t want to spend that much on one small item.I was told by 2 different staff:no refunds, the staff member is new, you should have seen the price written on the side of the pot, I’ll have to talk to the staff member and see what was said, the staff member was busy watering you can’t just yell across to him (?? I had walked over to him and asked the price for the Chicks). On and on, defending myself until the one staff member took the other one aside, came back and again told me they don’t do refunds but she would do it this time. At that point the other staff member left and then came hustling back with a whole tray of Chicks to show me that the price was written on each little pot (3 inch?) and that I should have seen it, implying what???At that point I was very upset and left without a refund. Feeling like all the plants were going to be a memory of a bad experience i decided I didn’t want them in my garden and that I would give them back (no refund requested, I just didn’t want them anymore).I returned about 20 mins later and asked to speak to the one staff member. She refused to come out so I left the plants with (Amy? a nice young girl at the front).All in all I felt that I had been accused of being either stupid, a liar, or trying to scam them somehow.

All the typical plants you would expect at a nursery. The knowledge and customer service was very poor. Staff knew nothing about basic plants. When they saw customers coming their way they would retreat. This place really needs to up thier game.

They carry such a great variety of indoor & outdoor plants plus a ton of decor & tools. I can get everything I need there. We buy the our soil in bulk from better earth & it has done wonders for our garden crop. The family who runs this garden centre is lovely & I always love visiting

Wonderful staff and selection! They have the cutest selection of pots, houseplants, flowers, etc. Staff are super friendly, creative (custom planting is beautiful!), and very knowledgeable. The customer service, knowledgeable staff, selection, and one-of-a-kind creations are worth every penny! You can buy all kinds of plants at big box stores, but you want get the same service and plants that have are well taken care of.

Purchased a hibiscus for more than $200. Started to have issue within days - plant started to loose leaves and was infested with something. Went back and they would not replace only days later. Even charged me for the spray and plant does not appear as though it will survive. Bylands and Art Knapp always resolve these issues. Very disappointed with service and will not shop here again.

While I love the atmosphere, selection, and friendly staff, every single plant I have bought here has had a scale infestation.I bought a ficus microcarpa from the sale section that looked very healthy with lots of new growth, and didn't think to ask if anything was wrong with it; it simply looked like it had outgrown its pot, and I mistakenly assumed someone would be forthright about my buying a plant with a pretty bad pest infestation. When I got home, I realized this plant had sticky black spots underneath at least 40% of its leaves, and bruising/scrapes around many of those, like someone had tried to scrape it off. I checked the other plants I had bought a couple of weeks earlier from here (which were, and still are, kept separate from my other plants, including the microcarpa), and they had the same sticky spots, which are scale.Despite my best efforts to quarantine the affected plants while treating them, the scale has now spread to every single plant in my house. A hard lesson learned about checking under the leaves, I guess.

When in to get 2 cubic yards of mulch. The staff in the yard and on the counter where very helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are very competitive for the product and delivery is very reasonable. Large variety of products in the yard and in the store. The staff is a lot more helpful and friendly than the other Garden places we visited. Nightly recommend for all your gardening needs.

I bought a gift of terracotta wrapped pots. When I opened there was a huge crack in the pot. I contacted the owner because I am in customer service and know that publicly outing a company can hurt. She was extremely rude to me on the phone. She said I should have checked better before purchasing (even though it was under the wrapped part) and I couldn’t even exchange it for one that wasn’t cracked. Huge red flags for this business and I can promise you I will never shop here again. Disappointing.

Went to Better Earth Gardens for the first time today. It was wonderful! I would spend all day every day there if I could. The plants were all amazing and the people were great! I have a medical mask exemption and have had a pretty terrible week with certain stores refusing to acknowledge medical exemptions even with proof. Not one person bothered me the whole time I was at Better Earth Gardens without a face covering on. I even had a discussion with the cashier about it and she was a pleasure to talk with. I will be doing all of my garden business with them in the future.
