Sunnyside - Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool

Gorgeous architecture, free to enter, accessible via bike on Martin Goodman trail, right beside the beach and has lovely views of the lake.I've noticed the bikeshare station adjacent to the pool is usually filled up so plan accordingly. Bring your own lock or a quarter for the locker.I visited on a Friday afternoon in July 2022.

Beautiful location, awesome pool. Cleanliness in the change rooms needs a lot of improvement. They should have cleaning staff clean the change rooms more often.

DANGEROUS HEALTH HAZARD!! I have been going to this pool for 10 years and I have never seen the changerooms so dirty and disgusting. There was garbage all over the floor and on the benches. Used tampons discarded in the showers and dried puke in one of the washrooms. None of the washrooms had been cleaned. It is a health hazard!!! Do not take your shoes off in this place.

Always remember to bring a quarter for the lockers. I think this is such a well-maintained facility, considering its age. I love swimming here FOR FREE. Honestly it was so enjoyable to be here on the second day of opening this year. You swim widths across the pool, which is about 23 and change metres. It's important to wear sunscreen. Mirrored goggles are helpful for sun glare. The lifeguards do a wonderful job. The patrons who I attended lane swim with were very respectful

Great pool! Lots of space, not too chlorinated. However kicking everyone out every 45 minutes doesn't seem to serve a purpose and seems arbitrary. Hopefully that will change soonEdit: there is no longer th 45 min blocks, you can go in and out as you please

Love it. Free public pool. Definitely bring some sort of shoe for the sandy/wet changing room floor.

A beautiful pool that is NEGLECTED by staff and NEVER cleaned to the point of being a health hazard. Even if you go first thing in the morning the spaces will be filthy because noone bothered to clean up after the previous day of hundreds swimmers. Changerooms always have a layer of slimy/muddy/sandy footprints and wet slop mixed with hair on the floor. Old diapers, garbage, sanitary napkins, random clothing articles that got left behind. Toilet stalls and sinks are absolutely disgusting. Pool deck has piles of garbage from the day before. Surface of the water covered in dead bugs because the staff couldn't be bothered to do a 5 min lap with a net to skim them off. This pool deserves better than this and could be better if they just put in a normal level of effort.
