Fire Escape

A lovely experience. Second time on the wheel and Kate was an excellent guide and teacher. Great affirming energy for someone learning the pottery wheel. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience! Did the pottery wheel session with Kate and had a blast. She was amazing at explaining everything without making it too complicated for my husband and I (total beginners). We both ended up with two pieces we were proud of and are keen to go back and make more! Shocked at the quality of instruction and the overall experience for such a reasonable price. Would highly recommend for a fun date night, birthday, or just to try something new. You won't be disappointed!

Love this place so much! Kate and the crew is so knowledgeable and helpful. Loooots of colours to choose from. I’ve been 10+ times and I’ll keep on coming back. The 1:1 wheel session is such a treat, Kate really teaches you the basic steps or you can book to improve your throwing skills. Fire escape is the most affordable and helpful place in Calgary!

LOVE this place! They have a huge selection and the staff are very helpful! Also, very fast turnover time for getting your pieces fired!

What an amazing experience! Took my kids there with a Groupon to try something new that they've never done before and they loved it! There is so much more than just throwing Clay on a wheel or painting a cast, they do so much for other people and organizations and I can't wait to go back!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! Highly recommend to come here and paint pottery!! Friendly staff and owner, paint is non chemical and washes off hands and clothing if you get ‘em messy! Environment is so friendly and so welcoming, different style of utensils to use, 1:1 sessions for wheel pottery, and affordable/reasonable prices on pottery ready to paint! Seatings is main lobby & upstairs! I had my first time wheel session with Fire Escape, and let me tell you how much fun it was to make something that you did!! It’s $35 per person, which includes instructor, material & kiln service. (You can find more details on their website and social media!) after I had finished my wheel session, I made a bowl and a mug, which I then went on to doing some painting, along with my friend!! This bowl, I traced the outline in sharpie, then used a puffy paint to trace back the outline and fill in the parts that needed it’s colour! At first the colour will not look like the one you picked, but don’t worry! It’s going to turn out wonderful!!! After 2 and more so hours (everyone’s painting varies!) it was ready to be fired up in the kiln! It takes around 2 or so weeks until your pottery is ready to be picked up!!! I definitely will keep coming here to paint, thank you so much for the experience that I learnt from here!!!!You will see my pictures of before and after!

Two weekends ago a group of friends brought me here for a birthday hangout. The first time I’ve been to Fire Escape - for a couple of my friends they’ve been before. But I absolutely loved it and had the best time. We were fortunate enough to have the whole place to ourselves for most of the time, and they made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. No pressure to hurry or leave. The staff working were super helpful and had awesome ideas for the pieces we were painting.The prices were really really reasonable considering they make most of the pottery there - (Way better than any other business like this that I’ve been to)!I loved the feel of the location and the fact that you can tell they make a lot of cool stuff there. It’s exactly what you would expect a pottery place would be.the turn around time for getting your piece back was super fast too. I will definitely be back!

It was fine until we got them back they were handled with no care at all smudges, fingerprints, pieces chipped off, paint missing, on ALL my family very disappointed and we’ve been to other places before and they did not turn out like this
