My experience with Dr. Anthony Rea was horrible and devastating. I would not recommend him to anyone. In his office, he treated me with contempt, zero respect, blaming and shaming. He was patronizing and adversarial, made fun of me and laughed when I tried to be assertive with him and spent most of the time gas-lighting me and trying to make me feel bad instead of addressing the very real problems with his staff.I went to see him for a consultation about getting a tooth pulled with IV sedation. A 20 minute consultation was about $200.00. When I made the appointment with him, Hannah, one of his staff, neglected to tell me very important information that I had a right to know. She told me that Mr. Rea had hospital privileges and that I may be able to get the extraction -- with IV sedation -- covered through MSP. Most importantly, that is ALL she said. She led me to believe that I could probably get it covered through MSP.So today, I went in for the consultation with Andrew Rea, and I had to pay the cost before I saw him. Minus a small fraction covered by my dental plan, I paid $113.00. That is a lot of money for a senior living on a threadbare OAS income.Imagine my shock when his nurse told me that, in order to get it covered by MSP, I had to have a serious medical condition like diabetes and that Dr. Rea does not usually do an extraction with IV sedation when it is just one tooth. Why was I not told that by Hannah, when it was such vitally important information!! I had a right to know if I was not eligible. If I had known that, I would never have agreed to a consultation.Because I was upset, Dr. Rea offered to have a quick talk with me. Right off the bat, he was hostile and abusive, fabricating downright insulting and absolutely false things about me just to defend his staff, just to try and make me look bad. He was cruel to me. He was not there to listen to me, but just to berate me like a child.I had to endure undignified, demeaning treatment frpm Dr. Anthony Rea. When I said that I had a right to proper information, he laughed at me and ridiculed me: You have a "right" -- ha ha ha -- what makes you think that you have a "right" to anything?" He even mocked and trivialize my reasons for getting IV sedation. When I told him that the last experience getting a tooth extracted was a living hell with excruciating pain

Dr. Anthony Rea was a life saver for me.I had been to a less than stellar dentist in Esquimalt and had been left with a broken bone in my jaw after a bad extraction. After several days of it (obviously) not healing (despite going back to the same unnamed dentist), a friend recommended Dr. Rea who immediately saw and fixed the problem (even though my appointment was only supposed to be for an assessment).He has a wonderful friendly professional demeanor, as does his entire staff at the Colwood Dental clinic.I was surprised how fair his prices were and would definitely recommend him and return if I need more extractions (which he specializes in).

Giving credit where credit is due. Dr Rea is very professional and polite. The staff members are well mannered and welcoming.Having said that they mislead you when it comes to billing, one might even say they trick you on purpose.Once you get a reference from your primary dentist Dr Rea's office contacts you for booking an appointment. They tell you that there is a charge of $185 for the consultation and that it is covered under insurance, the insist that it has to be paid first in full and the insurance will reimburse you.There in lies the trick, it's a lie of omission when they neglect to tell you that your insurance might not cover it. Furthermore they have the ability to check before charging the patient if it is covered or not and they choose not to do it.The first thing they do when you walk in is charge you, within the first 5 minutes they pass you the POS machine without saying anything (without offering to check with the insurance firm for coverage).And once you've paid they infrom you that you're not covered for the consultation.And the consultation is literally a 10 minute conversation with Dr Rea. Dr Rea and his medical staff seem to be exceptionally qualified and kind, but I was very disappointed by the customer service staff.They were impatient and discourteous on the phone, and then when I was in the waiting area they were loudly gossiping and complaining about the out-of-date computer system. Also I found the office itself to be a bit outdated and dusty-feelingAlso Also, annoying that they make you pay $100 and take time out of your day to go all the way out there for a 3 minute examination. Would make way more sense if they just did the examination and the surgery on the same day, as most doctors do.

Excellent surgeon and medical team! Surgically extracted my impacted wisdom teeth, which were complicated due to their placement and my age. I recovered with absolutely no bruising, very minimal swelling and no dry sockets! Pain was managable with regular Tylenol. Incredibly skilled Dr. and exceptional team! Thanks Dr. Rea!

I was referred to Dr. Rea from my regular dentist as my wisdom teeth were a bit more complicated for what they usually deal with. Everything went very smooth for my teeth removal, and my recovery went well without any complication. (Some swelling after the teeth removal was expected for a couple of days, but it was hardly noticeable from the outside.)

Came in for 3 tooth extraction. Totally professional.Should have found this oral surgeon and his nurse years ago.if you want something done right he is your man

Received a message from the secretary the day before my appointment that it had to be re-scheduled. I had booked this appointment over a month in advance and had to take unpaid time off of work to attend. Would have liked my notice on this last minute cancellation.

Dr. Rea and his excellent team are so amazing! My son had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. Some impacted and one on a nerve that could cause nerve damage. We were very nervous and they made us feel at ease and in very capable hands.Recovery was complication free with little pain and swelling. Would recommend this team very highly!
