Bamboo Kung Fu - downtown Toronto
I've been training here three days a week for 7 months now and it's the best thing I've done for me in years. The space is small but cozy, the work is challenging and subtle in a way I wasn't expecting, and makes me feel unbelievably cool. Sifu is mindful of his students, overflowing with enthusiasm, isn't overly dogmatic about the style, and is very much interested in really teaching you how to -fight- and conditioning you to excel instead of just putting you through the motions.also for the record as a trans woman I can vouch for the safety and inclusiveness of the space, i've had no issues!I'd recommend this place and this practice to anyone in a heartbeat. life changer. <3

Bamboo Kung Fu - downtown Toronto
Bamboo Kung Fu is one of the best activities my children are involved in. My goal for my kids is to have them understand the basics of martial arts, to understand that to be good at something requires focus, dedication, self-discipline and training and to find an activity that they can participate in for the long term that can constantly challenge them to be better. Bamboo Kung Fu, in my estimation, fulfills these requirements. When selecting a martial arts school, I had a few criteria – it had to be near me, offer hours that were reasonable and had a focus on teaching and learning, not a fitness class disguised as a martial arts class. My personal bias was towards Chinese martial arts, as I can also use it as a basis for my children to learn a bit about their cultural heritage. Bamboo Kung Fu fit my requirements well. What I like most about Bamboo Kung Fu, is that there is no focus on attaining belts. It’s about learning the forms, learning the proper techniques, learning when and how to use those skills. The only criticism that I have is the week day hours can be a bit tough to get the kids to with 2 working parents. While not a requirement to attend, I find that more in class interaction is better than less.

If you want to learn traditional Kung Fu, then this is the place to go! Very welcoming atmosphere with great people from all walks of life, from beginners to those who have been attending for years. Kin Sze is a passionate, knowledgeable, and supportive instructor who is dedicated to helping individuals learn and improve. This school is more concerned with teaching real Kung Fu rather than training specifically for belts or sashes, so be prepared for that going in. It does take a couple of classes to get into the rhythm because it's designed for all levels. The practice space is a little small, but that adds to the family atmosphere! All in all a fantastic school!

EMPOWERING online lessons! Until now I have never encountered a sport organization that has been so welcoming and accommodating so I often previously sat on the bench" when it came to sports. However

My experience at Bamboo Kung Fu has been very rewarding. Since I joined the school about a year ago, I feel revitalized, not only physically but also mentally. Sifu Kin is very dedicated and knowledgeable, he is always making sure that all students are improving themselves. The class structure is well balanced between Kung Fu based body conditioning exercises and real application of the art. If you are looking for a place to train traditional martial arts, this is the place! I'm so glad I joined Bamboo.

Great lion dance and band! We had a great time and our wedding guests really enjoyed the performance too. The Bamboo Kung Fu lion dance team arrived to the hotel on time, and all members were polite, professional and talented! It's also good value as the dance lasted a long time, and there was an option of the team staying longer. Very happy with Bamboo Kung Fu, thank you for adding to our special day!

When I arrived in Toronto a couple of months ago, I searched for the place to practice martial arts and I am grateful I found this place. The classes are very interesting, combining physical workout, stretching, technique improvement and practical applications. Sifu Kin Sze is very knowledgeable, passionate and experienced, able to clearly explain kung fu concepts and tailor the exercises to any skill level, physical shape or age. The atmosphere is very welcoming and supportive, with more experienced students always willing to help.I can only recommend Bamboo Kung Fu to anyone who wants to learn traditional martial arts and improve the overall physical fitness and flexibility.

I have been practicing in Scarborough, and sometimes downtown, for a few months now as an adult and my kids have been in the children’s class for over a year. Both adult and kids classes are excellent, Sifu Sze is a great instructor and the kids love his classes too. Very practical real kung fu, and also a very good workout! Kids always have a blast and look forward to it!

I have been training at Bamboo for over 8 months now and it has been such an amazing experience.Though I still have lots of work to do, my body mobility and function has changed dramatically.Sifu Kin is amazing. He pushes you and helps you break your mental and physical limits, while at the same time having a great understanding of the body and how to keep it healthy. My short time at Bamboo has been more transformative than my previous 10 years in Yoga practice combined.Since the pandemic, it has been so good for my mental health that the studio transitioned so seamlessly to online. I am able to participate in all of my regularly scheduled classes and continue to grow in the art. I am definitely looking forward to being able to get back to the studio, but I just committed to my next unlimited package in the online format and I look forward to the journey and hopefully training here for many years. Thanks for everything Sifu!

I have been going here for 3 months and Bamboo Kung Fu is great!Prior to this I had never done any sort of martial arts. However, the instruction and community there has been very supportive and encouraging. From others I have spoken to about my experience there, and my own impression, Bamboo Kung Fu is the real deal. Convenient location down-town Toronto has been a huge plus for me and I have been able to fit 3 classes a week into my busy schedule.
