Thrifty Car Rental - Halifax International Airport

Check in was fast and the young man at the Thrifty/Dollar counter was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I was given an upgrade at no extra cost. I had read negative reviews about this Thrifty location using a bait and upgrade then overcharging clients prior to my booking for Sept 2-9 - hmmm seems hard to believe, I'm not calling any of the reviewers liars - please understand, however since I have always had good experiences with Thrifty - I didn't hesitate to book- I will add that in Toronto it is a seemingly common practice for competitors to post horrible reviews ( usually the reviewers have 1 or 2 reviews posted - a warning sign IMHO ). I will be updating this review after I return my 2018 Jeep Cherokee on Sept 9th-. So far, all is exceptional. I'm very pleased. I pulled out of the poorly lit parking garage and immediately took a video of a few scratches on the door and fender in the sunlight which is the norm for me every rental I pick up. ( UPDATED SEPT 10/18 ) Rental return was fast and easy - I am rebooking with this Thrifty location for Sept 29 - Oct. 1/18. Special thanks to Jean Michelle who also checked my car out upon arrival in Halifax- and Erin in the return section. Top notch staff, great immaculately clean vehicles and best pricing in Halifax International (Stanfield) Airport. I highly recommend.

Im giving one star but should be none. I called ahead n verified debit visa was acceptable. I was told my deposit would be deducted by debit visa. I never would have paid in full otherwise! Now they refuse s refundI even checked m double checked before booking my car with hopper. Thirfty mugged md without a gun.

I was picking up a car for the long weekend visit. There was a huge queue, not enough staff members to handle the volume of customers. The selection of cars was pretty slim as well.

Dishonest and Fraudulent organization!Booked a vehicle via THEIR website two months in advance along with Credit card information, AND phoned ahead in December to further confirm that the use of Debit-Visa/Debit-Master card was going to be NO ISSUE for the rental.low and behold, we arrived from our flight for the 6 day business trip to be told, not ONLY are they refusing to honour the rental with payment via the MasterCard that it was booked on, but they also wanted an additional $400 deposit up-front on top of the booking, which they never disclosed and was never listed on the rental agreement.The Agent then ACKNOWLEDGE there was an issue but it wasn't their fault, it was Expedia's fault for allowing the booking and not disclosing the need of regular credit card. (reminder, we used their website, not expedia's and called ahead)The Agent then said to bad and stranded us for over 6 hours in the airport with no rental to speak of, suggesting that instead we take the bus (the only serviced Halifax) or taxi. We had multiple business meetings going around (literally we circled the entire island) as such both were unrealistic options.Finally, an agent came over and gave an alternative rental" location from town that would be willing to rent with Debit or cash only. The Rental ended up costing 3x the amount we were supposed to be spending

Zero complaints over here! I arrived in the morning, my car was ready as agreed, they were nice enough to upgrade me to a mustang gt for an extra 25$!Staff was very nice and patient.

Rented from here for 4 full days, car wasn’t ready upon arrival and had to wait 30 mins, during drop off/return the agent was very petty on fuel level, the needle was off not even a hairline and he wanted to charge me $25, spent 10 mins driving out of the airport and filling $3 worth of gas, hopefully the $3 helps this location turn a profit!

I can’t believe I have been scammed for months, for damages not happened at all. I returned the car early in the morning and luckily I took a full video shot before I left. Found similar experience shared here! I would rate zero star if I can!I am shocked that Hertz acts on behalf of their unreliable Thrifty location, trying to charge me damages that never happened when I rent the car neglecting my full video as proof. Be as much cautious as possible if you have to deal with them! This never happened around the world in decades of my car rental experience!

Emily was amazing today! She was super kind and helpful. I recommend you go and see her and the team. They were very friendly and their customer service welcomed me to the east coast as my first impression. Highly recommend!!!!

I had no issues with 10 days rental. Booked 2 cars. The woman who worked on Oct 7th was amazing. The process was so smooth and she had explained everything so clearly. The drop off was so easy just had to drop the keys in. We got two Chryslers one mid van and other 300 series Sedan. We all know thingy has the best price in the market. Thanks team!

Worst rental, when I receive the car , it was dark no light in the parking, I use my flashlight to check, when I return the car THIS WOMAN JANICE she took 5 minutes to check the car when I return the other guy who is beside me returning the car too only took 2 minutes from the other man in car rental and he said to the guy all done. Janice told me she saw a scrape in the front of my bumper, YOU CANT EVEN SEE IT IN THE FLASHLIGHT, it’s all the way in the bottom line in bumper, she was telling me there is a scrape tear of paint, I told her that an old one you can see rust on it, the car is only 2 days with me and I barely drive it. She insisted that I scrape it and sign the form, and I put refused to sign, she told me that they will investigate it for the cost. WHAT THE!!! That’s why they insist car insurance to me because they already know that the scrape is there, FRAUD!
