Choice Dementia Services

The companions who spent time with Mom were caring and saw the unique individual beyond the dementia. This was the only company I found who were able to provide dinner time visits. They were excellent at giving feedback. They contributed to reducing my stress.

Cyn and the ladies from her company, Choice Dementia Services, have looked after a friend of ours with Alzheimer’s disease, who wanted to spend the rest of her days at home, for four years. During this time, the ladies took exceptional care of her treating her like family and including her in their personal family events. They learned what was important to her and kept her involved with different activities which she enjoyed. These ladies provided 24 hour care. Even when she broke her hip, they stayed by her side In hospital so she recognized a familiar face and catered to her needs. Cyn and the ladies alleviated a lot of our stress as they looked after every emergency and helped take our friend to doctor, dentist and Physiotherapy appointments. They took care of the shopping, cooking and other jobs that needed to be done as our friend’s condition deteriorated. Cyn always had a plan in place so if there was a change in our friend’s health, it was dealt with without delay. We were always kept informed of our friend’s situation and met to discuss safety issues or repairs needed in the house. Any equipment or appointments necessary was arranged. These ladies provided amazing support to our friend as well as her “extended family”.It is thanks to Cyn, owner/operator of Choice Dementia Services that we were able to fulfill our friend’s wish of being able to live the rest of her life in her home surrounded by caring, sensitive people.Thank you Cyn Dunn for providing such a valuable service. Cyn takes care in making sure the caregivers meet her high standard of qualifications to meet her client’s needs.

I was referred to Cynthia Dunn when my 92 year-old father went to Fleetwood Villa Assisted Living in Surrey, B.C. after his failure to survive any longer by himself at home. My father has severe vision problems as well as memory, dementia /Alzheimer’s. I live in California and run a small business here.Since virtually all of my father’s friends have either passed on or are elderly themselves, and there is no family member to help other than me, I had a need to find someone be “me” when I was not available to be there in person with him. Thankfully, Cyn was able to connect with my dad on a special level. She is both professional and compassionate. She assists him in opening his mail, files, taking him to the bank and reviewing his bills with him. In addition, she has organized his clothes, has gone shopping for the extra needs he has and has taken him to the Doctor. She has also helped to coordinate his medical care so that many needs are being met. And, equally importantly, she coordinates with the Caregivers at Fleetwood.In summary, Cyn has effectively taken a load off of me. I have seen my father being taken advantage of in the home setting, and working with Cyn has set us up for success. Not knowing the medical system in B.C, has been frustrating for me and she has been able to help problem solve. She is professional, reliable and honest. So it is a genuine relief for me to have Cyn working with my father.

Cyn was the outside care giver 6 hours a week for my wife who has severe Alzheimers. She was excellent with her. She could make her laugh, got her to talk, and my wife greatly enjoyed her company. When Cyn would come in her face would light up and she would have a great big smile.We where so fortunate to have her help us until my wife was admitted to a Care Home.I would highly recommend Cyn for any Dementia Services you require.
