I want to preface this review by stating that the issue at hand lies mainly with Alamo/Enterprise as a corporation and not necessarily with the workers I was dealing with. I booked a single day car rental for my family and I to go to Niagara Falls and then drop the vehicle off at the Pearson airport when we flew out the next morning. in my online booking I stated our need for a car seat for our toddler, and called twice to confirm with Alamo that a car seat would be waiting for us at their downtown location when I went to pick it up. Upon arrival, of course the worker informs me that the only Alamo location with car seats in stock is at Pearson airport, and that no car rental service in downtown Toronto would have one for us. I definitely get why they keep the car seats centralized, I imagine 99% of families rent a car straight from the airport and return it there. Our situation was a bit different (we did not need a car for our entire trip, hence only renting it for a day at the end). This is why I called twice to confirm it would be available at the downtown location and why I was incredibly frustrated to show up and have my suspicion confirmed (that they wouldn't have it available for us). Credit to the beleaguered woman who was attempting to hunt one down for me, but Alamo put her in a situation where she could not be successful in helping a customer. Apparently she cannot directly phone the airport rental branch (but can call any other branch in Toronto no problem). She also mentioned other parents have run into the same issue with renting cars from downtown Toronto, and have left frustrated and unable to get their vehicle as planned. Alamo has yet to do anything to remedy the situation for her as a worker or for us as customers. At the end of the day, I never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by laziness/stupidity. I have to assume Alamo is simply too lazy to make a couple of quick tweaks to their website to prevent the issue from recurring (or at minimum educating their call centre employees that car seats can only be rented at the airport). At the end of the day we didn't get our car, we didn't get to go check out Niagara, the family was disappointed and we were left scrambling to find a last minute ride to the airport the next morning. But hey, life goes on.The sad thing is, I don't think Alamo is an outlier. Every car rental company is a PITA to deal with, some slightly more or less than others, as one can easily see just by looking at Google reviews for every other company. I have no doubt we probably would have had the same issue at another company. Nevertheless, Alamo dropped the ball in such a way that I don't plan on ever using them again. I probably don't rent cars enough that Alamo cares even one iota about losing my business, nor do I think they'll even read this far down on my review. This is a drop in the bucket compared to all of the other negative reviews they receive and I don't expect them to do anything to improve their service going forward.TL;DR: If you have kids that need carseats, know in advance that you can only get them from Pearson airport, despite what Alamo (and other car services) may tell you on the phone.

Such a generous rental car company that reserve a car for you even though they don’t have it. I booked a car 4 months ago and when I went there to pick it up they simply told me sorry we tried calling you but it didn’t go through coz I gave them a wrong number. I mean, at least give a good reason. In short, rent from them only when you don’t want to plan anything and just want to stay at home.

The worst car rental company.I rented a car with them this weekend, I went to pick up the car at Toronto Airport and my card that WORKED everywhere didn't work in their machines, I called my bank twice and they told me everything was fine, there was no problem, that the problem was on their side, they completely ignored me, they didn't find me another solution, they didn't let me use someone else's card, just to leave a deposit of $300, because the rent was already paid, we are talking about $600 that I lost.Worst of all, i'm 7 months pregnant, i felt bad with stress.They didn't want to know, they simply ignored my status and left me without a car and without money.I've come to Canada 2 times and NEVER but NEVER had problems with my card in another company (AVIS AND DOLLAR) and I had the worst experience of my life with them with the worst rent car company ALAMO.

Bad treatment at this location. We rented a Toyota RAV4 or similar and the guy want to sell us a story that a Mazda CX3 was simular. We were on our way to Niagara Falls and had not much time to discuss about this. So I got a VW Passat Sedan but we don't choose Alamo for rental anymore.

One of the cheapest options in the city, but you get what you pay for in terms of customer service. They closed early before I arrived for my prearranged pickup time and almost made me miss my own wedding. At drop off, they quickly took my keys and told me they would email me a receipt but it still hasn't arrived.

Horrendous experience! Reserved 2 months ago. The 1st gentleman we dealt with was very professional - props to him! Picked up SUV, had multiple significant scratches on it. Asked to have it documented, the attendant at the exit booth wouldn't do it. I took video of him (Ashid R) refusing to input damage into system. He got irate, accused us of harrassing him. Demanded I delete video of his unprofessional behaviour.Got a manager involved, she (she refused to give us her name, but gave her initials to us as AK") also refused to document damage

Can’t understand the negative reviews. Staff above the top friendly, car in super condition (BMW X2), got a free upgrade… next time again for sure!!
