James Bay Veterinary Clinic

I’m really not impressed with the communication and pricing with James Bay Vet.I was quoted $35 for a follow up booster vaccine and ended up being charged for an examination fee on top of that for a total of $110. I was not quoted for the second examination fee up front and I’ve never been charged for a second examination fee before at other vets when doing the second round of boosters.I also requested a quote for spay - which came in at about double what I was expecting and significantly higher than others in the greater Victoria area.It is clear to me that they care about the animals - this rating doesn’t reflect the level of care, but rather, reflects the poor communication and their exorbitant fees.

facility is nice and roomy. The vet was very helpful and knowlegable and lovely with Louie. The vet techs were friendly and handled Louie well. Of course the front staff was great too. Loiue is a large cat and can have a temper at times - however he was quite docile with the way everyone handled him there. A relief to me, really!

I had to bring my dog in for an emergency treatment after he was injured in Beacon Hill Park. I was not a patient at this clinic, and in spite of this they welcomed me in quickly and treated me and my canine companion with the utmost care and professionalism. I would especially like to thank Dr. Hunt, Miriam, and Kayt for brining such repose to what was an understanbly stressful situation for us.It looks like Dex and I have found our new Vet!(Dog tax included)

Absolutely love James Bay Vet. This was the first vet I tried when I moved to Victoria and am so glad I came here. I read hundreds of positive reviews and decided to come in for ourselves and fell in love with this place and all it’s lovely staff. Everyone is super friendly and they ensure the BEST care for your pets. Couldn’t recommend James Bay Vet more! If you want happy healthy pets bring them here!!

Great veterinary clinic. Everyone there is great with both our dog, Albert, and cat, Waylan. Highly recommend. The prices have increased since the move, but this is understandable with inflation the way it is. Businesses have to stay in business. Appointments are always available within a reasonable time frame, we’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes for our scheduled appointment and every vet we have dealt with has listened to our concerns and given good advice. We have tried other vet clinics before settling at James Bay vets. They did not come close in comparison.

We've recently moved to the area and are happy to have the James Bay Vet Clinic as the vet of our two cats. Not only are they well taken care of, but the staff is really knowledgeable and help answers any questions we have. The time they take when checking up on our animals and the comfort they provide to our cats make our visits a worthwhile experience.

My new puppy got her second round of shots and a puppy wellness check. The staff were so kind and welcoming and seemed very knowledgeable about puppy needs. The price seemed really good for the care, and number of vaccines she received. Persephone and I will be back in a month for her next boosters!

I have nothing but great things to say about this clinic. This staff including front desk, veterinary assistant, and the veterinarian have been nothing but kind, courteous and professional. Dr. Hunt is warm, knowledgeable and thorough. He always takes his time, and I never feel rushed during my appointments. I always feel welcomed here, and I know my dog is in good hands.

I've been going here for years, and I keep meaning to write a review but forgetting! Everybody here is friendly and lovely with my cat, they were even able to figure out why she kept biting her tail, which no previous vets had a solution for. Would definitely recommend taking your pets here.

I have already recommended several of my friends and colleagues to the JBV clinic. I am a first time dog owner and from the first visit I had with my puppy, I have been extremely happy. Kate, the lady at the front desk is an absolute pleasure to talk to and she is also very knowledgeable and understanding. After my first discussion with Kate, I knew I wanted to have Beau continue to come to this clinic. She went out of her way to make me feel comfortable with vaccine decisions and helped me relay information to the vet. She is truly a gem. The vets were also lovely and caring. Everyone at this clinic understood that my dog’s well being comes first but also understood that I have to be very cost conscious. Thank you all for an amazing experience thus far.Bravo team !
